There's a pretty big difference between "drug themes" in Neighbours, and drugs as incentive or reward in an interactive game. I'm not saying I agree with the classification guidelines, or the judgements handed down thusfar, but it is what it is.
Couldn't you just play SR3 instead, because from what i've seen it pretty much looks like the same game.
This isn't true. 360 game region locks are 100% at the discretion of the publisher. Typically small Japanese devs region lock on the 360, but most Western publishers don't. And not all games on PS3 are region free. Try importing P4A if you don't believe me. Even the digital version on PSN is region locked. Again, not true. The 360 renders everything internally before outputting to a video scaler. HD resolutions are universal so no worries there. SD resolutions are scaled by the ANA/HANA chip to the local setting. If you put a region free NTSC game into a PAL Xbox 360 it'll run, play and output proper video just fine. -hl718
Sadly PS3 isn't that friendly. As far as I know NTSC PS3 refuses to play 50hz encoded DVD or blu-ray, and PAL games that don't support NTSC SD resolutions. The OS won't allow it. Making a compatible TV or not irrelevant.
What isnt true? I said the region lock is only 3 things, PAL, NTSC or NTSC/J - so with Oz being PAL, they can import any PAL copy and it will play. A by product of this is that the video is exactly the same (but I never said that it was an issue anyway). You are not talking about anything I posted, so I have no clue what you are saying isnt true about my post. If the game is region locked, it will have to be a PAL copy on a PAL console - video mode was never mentioned. The fact the console is region locked doesnt matter - as its not locked to say "PAL - Australia" its just "PAL" - so you can get it from another PAL country no problem - therefore region locking is a non issue for the aussies and this game.
Yes it sucks the ps3 hates other region dvd/blurays.... I got a few Japanese drift dvd's that don't work on it, so have to watch it in the other room. Bloody first world problems.
Yeah this is ridiculous. The R18+ rating was pointless in passing if they're still going to refuse everything. It's about time our government realizes that the majority of gamers are older and we can handle this kind of material. We need gamers on the review board that actually play these games and understand how it all works rather than some 60 year old man who still complains about seeing the odd bikini on television. We don't live in a censored society anymore, everything is unlocked, everything is no holds barred. I don't understand why I'm allowed to get blind drunk every night, why I'm allowed to smoke cigarettes until I end up with lung cancer (I don't smoke, just proving a point), why I'm allowed to watch friday night movies on TV depicting drug use, rape and violence but I can't play an over-exaggerated video game. I really can't see what the deal is. I don't really care for this title though, the third one ruined the series and the fourth looks even worse. I will be getting on my soapbox if this happens to a game that I want though. I had to get Mortal Kombat from the UK and I'd rather not go through it again.
I was over in Oz for a while recently and I was *gobsmacked* as to how expensive games were. Also I find it absolutely bewildering that the common-or-garden Aussie is so laid back they are nearly horizontal, yet they aren't allowed 'Adult' themes in their games!
