I was wondering last night. Gaming is getting more and more main stream and like it's hayday in the 80s people from all walks are partaking. Most message boards (IE every gaming board that isn't assembler) seems to be composed of Teens and the Gaming Loser Stereotype. I'm finally going back to school in the fall to... wait for it wait for it Become a psychologist. (I even have an idea for my thesis and I haven't even started yet) My Goal is to get a PHD. Not sure if I want to be a therapist or not but I see what they make... it's tempting. So how about the rest of you what do you all do for a living?
Speaking academically, I study both Computer and Electric Engineering, or at least try to :110: In terms of money, I'm an insurance broker/reseller for a couple of insurance companies and have a small list of clients. It's not a very hard job and not very time consuming unless you have a huge set of clients (which is not my case). I also resell videogames every now and then, as retail prices down here are astronomically high, and whenever I get the chance I take a website development project if it falls under my skills (PHP & mySQL), though it's been some time since my last work as a freelance web designer as I got really pissed off with my last couple of clients, all a bunch of douchebags. Anyway, I could say I'm enjoying what I'm doing right now although it's a very low income, but enough to keep the collection growing and the business running
Law Student, full time. I'll be a lawyer about 1 year from now. Fun Fact: I work behind the circulation desk at the Law Library and I'm there right now, getting paid to sit here and type this post. (But most time here is spent studying).
I work for the goverment for the tax office, not the best job in the world but basicly it's a job for life at a descent pay. So i'll stick around until the economic crisis is over and then look for something in non-goverment for a good income.
Studying History and Philosophy of Science. Though i think my 2nd degree will be either on computer engineering or biology. (i am not sure yet)
I noticed something just now...Besides me Only one other person is from the US. Makes me regret my past douchebaggery here even more so.
Still a student, almost working full time. Its not a "permanent" job, but it supports my gaming, gas, insurance, and college payments, etc.
all it needs to do You haven't been here that long have you... check my post history you'll know what I'm talking about
In college i studied Engineering, steel fabrication and welding (all types) and after college i worked at a structual steel company my team worked on the Millenium Dome (now called the o2 arena) then a few years after that i witnessed my work colleague lose a leg and nearly his life and i also suffered a deep cut to my leg because of a weak steel cable snapping...so with 3 young children (now 4) and a wife to look after i switched jobs to be a coach driver..bit random i know but its fun :110:
Unemployed, knocking out iPhone apps for a quick buck and to pay for a masters degree which I will start either this year or next.
Student studying Civil Engineering. I have about 1.5years left to go and I work part time as a computer technician. I also do side jobs, such as PC support house calls, but I rarely do that.
I work in IT at the university here, most databases and mobile apps for various departments. I hate it but I am working on a masters in mechanical engineering at the moment so that I don't have to be here anymore. The best part is that the university pays for it as I work here.
Former Shelf stocker/Next in line boss at safeway. now unemployed cause of a move Hope to get into Recording Technology, Computer Tech and eventually have my own business and put the others as hobbies/secondary income
Architectural Technician, recently graduated, but working as a Web Developer/Jack of all trades. I wouldn't trade this job for anything right now. I work with some of the greatest people around, in one of the most amusing offices around (there's a 13 foot tall giraffe that greets you at the front door) Ryan
Computer programmer as of the first of this month... I graduated a few weeks ago with a degree in Computer Science.
