Who here actually waited in line like everyone else to get their hands on a PS3, hopefully to actually play it, not profit off of the hysteria it created?
Hopefully if all goes well I will have a PS3 in a couple of hours, not for profit but to actually play it.
Well, I wanted to get one....but the other TWO THOUSAND people at the Sony store begged to differ, lol. At least those that didn't get trampled and end up in the hospital.
Makes me wonder how easy or hard it is to actually sell it with a decent profit. I cant imagine that many people actually wanting one to play. Having said that, i want one (gift) though But im not going to pay more than $100 extra for it and i need it for dec 5th, so we'll see.
I played one in a store today. It was good, but not wait in line good, and definitely not 600$ good. I went to the store to ask them how the launch went. I was surprised when I heard that they had like 20 people with tents camping for 3 days. They had a total of like 35 people when they opened and only 26 PS3s. I didn't think I lived in an area with that many people that were gamers, but then ofcourse I remembered resellers. Still, until they are giving out suitcases with millions of dollars in them, I'm not camping outside a store.
I can wait. i know for me I want to find a japanese system. I am hoping once the us versions saturate ebay I can get a japanese system for less than play-asia.
Why? I fix consoles on the side. The later the version, usually the more problems associated since sony finds ways to cheapen materials/labor which usually lead to poorer quality. I rarely see v1-v4 ps2's in for repair. V10 and V12 are a whole different story.
To answer the original question, I own a PS3. Did the whole wait-in-line-for-days thing. I mostly wanted to just because i'd never had a system at launch, and figured it would be sort of exciting. Was only able to get the 20gb pack, but that's fine, I don't plan to use wifi, 4x USB is plenty (6x seems like overkill), and despite which I got I was going to be installing a 120-160gb 7200rpm HDD to replace it anyway.
Fabrizo, the expensive model doesnt offer more USB ports. Just wifi and a card-reader, and the silver trim. the HDD you can change anytime
They actually said somewhere not to put a 7200rpm drive in the PS3. Heat concerns or something. They suggest using a 5400rpm or something. Unfortunately I don't think there's many games that make the PS3 worth owning at launch. I'll give you motorstorm, that was a fun demo. I imagine Resistance is fun too. But there are previous incarnations of racing and fps that are just as fun. Really they need to be superb.
