Yep, Resistance. It's the only launch game that looked worth getting. I probably would have got Motorstorm as well if the track layouts didn't suck so bad (based on the demo). Well their were a few problems. We tried to be self governing and create a list basted on who got their first so their wasn't any mad dashes to the door at the last minute. Alot of people refused to acknowledge it (the list) and were threatening those that were supporting it. Thankfully though the store had at least one very competent manager that calmed the crowd and make the list official so everyone knew where they stood when it came to handing out systems. The only real major event was when we were hit by a nasty storm that pretty much destroyed all the tents and soaked nearly everyone (with the exception of those that jumped in their cars durring it). Our line did manage to make it into two different newspapers also, so that was neat
I guess I could see the thing about Sony using cheaper parts, but couldn't the reason that you see fewer old PS2s be that not as many people own them? Also, if I remember correctly, my school had a launch PS2 (long story) and it broke a month or two after they got it.
Well, theres many factors that could affect it. I mod consoles as well, so there isn't any short in seing older consoles (maybe not as many v1's) , but I've never seen a specific concentration of any one version. I think it's pretty common knowledge among the scene that some of the mid range ones are the worst quality (i.e. v10 & v12). This is evidenced by the fact that in later revisions sony decided to integrate "fixes" that had already been impletemented in the scene. I'm more or less trying to illustrate the point that if you really want one, just buy it now. Nobody can predict the future and there isn't any real rhyme or reason that would suggest forth coming versions to be any better/worse than the initial ones. But there is probably reason that sony will do whatever they can to make them "cheaper". Not neccesarily a bad thing, but flys somewhat in the face of the convention that later units=better quality.
If anyone cares, I FINALLY GOT MY PS3 TONIGHT! :dance:It's the 20GB version. Opened that baby up tonight and set it up. Got it from local GameStop when I was headed back home for Turkey Day break. I was lucky too, because the worker said they just got it 30 minutes ago before I came in. There were only 2 units, and a couple were already planning to buy one of them (I had to rush for my money back in the car! I saved that up for launch night, only to find myself too late to line up Wednesday night). I did order a 60GB one through SonyStyle.com last Saturday morning which I posted up in the boards (actually "e-camped" out for it, came up about 12:03am CST, happened to be at the right place at the right time that night). Checked the order status on it, and so far everything looks fine - Overnight shipping, planned to ship November 22 (today!). But since I got my 20GB tonight, I'm not so anxious anymore for the higher one. Well, looks like ebay for the 60Gig. Might as well make up some of my losses. I'm downloading Fedora Linux right now, plan to load it up as soon as it finishes downloading. I CAN'T WAIT! I haven't gone online yet, but I'll try to post pics of my PS3, and the system running Linux, as soon as I have it all ready. Tell me what you guys want to see! I don't have any games for it yet, but so far, the system is really impressive. It's so shiny! And heavy!! But it's so quiet, I did not even hear it when I booted it up for the first time. GOSH I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED! Celebrate with me, f00ls! -Concura
why would you ebay the 60 one? The internal WiFi of the 60GB model is more important to me than the hard disk size difference, since you can always upgrade that.
