I was willing to agree with that to an extent up until this post.

What games you find compatible to run on your PC really has nothing to do with discussion of the flaws of using off the shelf pc hardware.

Not once did I say PM me if you want any of these.

I'm just saying these boards have leaked.

Telling us what games are compatible on your system again has nothing to deal with discussing the problems of companies using common PC hardware to build arcade games.

"Interestingly enough to get otomedius to work you have to trick it into thinking it's online you also need a physical drive F (I have it so my SD drive is Drive F)

    [...]

I got Gigawing generations running but it's tate mode only the options screen is gibberish. I assume Shikigami III, and Raiden III and IV also run I haven't tried them since I have the PC Versions of Shikigami III, and the PS2 Raiden III and Raiden IV on 360

    Spica adventure also runs beautifully.

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger doesn't work right (while CS does)

KOF XII made my computer go batshit crazy KOF XIII is just a black screen of nothing then sound"

This snip it simply reeks of rom talk.

Uh I'm saying what works and what doesn't
Also almost ALL the games I mentioned I own in another form.

    again for research purposes.

Did you miss the part I said my laptop is spec for spec a Type X2?

El oh el, jumping to conclusions about PC hardware being used in arcade machines?

Newsflash: the hardware doesn't matter. Using off the shelf PC components means development would likely be cheaper and finding replacement parts decently cheap as instead of having your engineers build custom hardware you just drop in a new video card that is compatible with whatever game(s) you're using it. The hardware itself means squat except for the fact that it is binary compatible with what is inside the vast majority of PCs out there in the world.

What appears to be the insecure part was using Windows XP embedded as the underlying software for all of the games. System-16.com says that it is customized, probably not very well I'm guessing. Securing XP embedded is not a challenge if your engineers are competent. Securing it against piracy such as it apparently is now isn't that hard either, if they bother.

Probably spent plenty of money on engineers and I'd wager they warned someone about how stupid this plan was if they didn't bother to lock the games down tight. Management probably saw $$$ in their eyes at the savings to be had using off the shelf parts than having to custom fabricate each machine and replacement parts.

    Almost != All

Own in another form != Own a Licence to it.

Why wouldn't it? Say Lindbergh games get cracked next - that would mean anyone can just pop in a hard drive to another computer and play the game. If it used a custom 360 (think Naomi to Dreamcast) board instead - sure the game is cracked, but what are you going to run it on? It might not be a perfect solution, but it would cut down on the amount of people pirating the game.

Since when does the TX2 use a 4000 series Radeon?

What are you looking to research? How well they run on your laptop? ;-)

GPU: PCI Express ×16-based graphics. Supported GPUs include ATI RADEON (x1600Pro, x1300LE) or NVIDIA GeForce (7900GS, 7600GS, 7300GS)

    Close enough

Not really... care to explain why (some) Type X games won't work in an X+? Or in an X2 for that matter.

I'm not 100% sure but from what I hear it's a driver issue and it's possible to mod a type-x or x+ to run on a x2 unit (but it requires you to modify the hdd)

I hear you can also upgrade a Type X to run X2 games by swapping the video card with a 7900GS. I'll be trying this one myself once I can track down an AGP 7900GS.

I thought it was just straight up incompatibility between the cards rather than a driver issue though, where did you hear this? I'd like to do some reading!

Rumbling on other forums from people who service them. Yet talking about it directly on that forum is a big no no (and a quick way to get banned).
