    Hello all,

I've had some CD-i and PC beta versions sitting around for a while and I thought I'd share them with you as a late Christmas present. They can be downloaded here: https://mega.co.nz/#F!Xol2UaLY!q9JlfeTyOWy2Ay0CBEid3w (this a free account with limited bandwith so maybe the Prototopia project can mirror these)

I'm not an expert in making correct images so CD-i discs were ripped using ISOBuster. The discs with audio tracks were ripped using CloneCD as it's the only tool I know that supports this format. And even with CloneCD I had to try like 5 different drives before I found one that actually manage to rip all the discs. I re-burned one of the images and it seemed to work but no guarantees. The PC discs with audio tracks were ripped with the redump tool DiscImageCreator. The CDR rips are made from CDRs that were actually used for testing some 20 years ago. Some discs, both pressed and CDRs, had read errors unfortunately

Nothing special in there, but for the small amount of CD-i fans there is "Origami 2 - Doll's House" (not a game though) which as far as I know is a commercially unreleased title even though I did see an advertisement for it in a flyer. Any other unreleased games were previously made available on GameTronik

I do not know what the differences (if any at all) are with the retail versions of these titles so have fun finding out

    Kind regards,
    candela

"some" versions, lol... that's quite a collection. Guess I better wait until I have faster internet again. Thanks for sharing! :encouragement:

Heads up to anyone running into problems: The actual link still doesn't seem to work - you have to copy/paste the link text. (edit: seems fixed)

That's awesome collection, thanks. Seems like most of games have "preview" status, like retail version in most of them.

But anyway here is useful information for everyone:

    cd-i PC emulator: http://cdii.blogspot.nl/2012/08/mah-boi-keyboard-interface-to-use-with.html

if games will request this - you can't run this on emulator:
    http://cdii.blogspot.ru/2009/05/digital-video-cartridge.html

but you can extract the files from iso with this guide:

    I added 3 more CD-I titles:
    Chaos Control - 1.16 - 810 0200.7z [unlabeled pressed disc]
    Chaos Control - 1.03 - 812 0035 - French.7z [unlabeled pressed disc]
Historia de las civilizaciones - Testdisc 1.01 - November 1997.7z [VCD with some CD-i menus]

    And a PC-DVD:
The Lost Ride - PAL Test Disc - PC-DVD Demonstrator.7z [I'm not sure what this is. Although the pressed disc label says PC-DVD, it's actually DVD-Video with some (repeated) footage of The Lost Ride. As far as I know it was the last major CD-i game released. I don't think it was available on any other platform. Maybe they were thinking of making a PC or DVD-Video version years later?

Nothing very interesting and this is most likely the last I'll ever get. These were literally saved from the dumpster. If there was anything else in the piles of 1000s of discs, it has now been thrashed :(. It's sad how much history is simply being destroyed by clueless managers, not even giving people that actually are interested the time and opportunity to carefully look through everything
