    Just read at Eurogamer:

Dead Space 3 changes are about "opening up to a larger audience"

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...ges-are-about-opening-up-to-a-larger-audience

"opening up to a larger audience" means "generic action game". Syndicate anyone?

It so many bullshit arguments in so little space. Really EA, WTF?! Not happy killing game studios and now wants to kill game franchises?! In one console generation they managed to destroy one of the best new franchises created on the same generation!

The fans "they don't want to piss" are the ones criticizing them on the comment section. Just read all the comments.

I read this earlier today and it upset me quite a bit. Dead Space is in my top 5 favorite games this gen. But seeing this just shows i did the right thing in packing up my 360. I can't stand what's going on in the industry today. I'll just keep playing my old games for now.

I always found dead space to be too linear with no real destructible items or environment.

Besides the one item box you stomp, there's not much interaction besides puzzles.

The gameplay on hard is wicked fun however, if not a bit predictable.

I found part 1 to be the best, with part 2 using too much rehash like the ship from part one.

I am looking forward to the coop in part 3, but given it uses origin I will probably use a cracked/pirate game
and never open my legit copy. That's what ea has become to me, buy the legit game and never use it,
head to torrents for a nag free game experience.

EA wants larger sales, they see the first two and they know fans will buy Part 3 regardless, it's how to get the platform audience that wasn't interested in the first two to buy the third one.

This is common practice EVERYONE does it, at the end of the day games are a product, no different then a movie or album. It's not about bringing a better game it's about widening the audience. It's the latest COD title the best ever ? Not by a long shot but it's the most successful of all of them. That's all a business and it's shareholders care about.

Skyrim wouldn't have sold as much as it did if they didn't throw huge money at a PR campaign, sure the fans would have bought it but not in the numbers it sold.

Nintendo does seem to show some tact in the management of it's IPs, but only in the case of which platform they bring them out again for. With the exception of Mario of course.

It won't change, it sucks I agree if anything it was the one reason I stopped going to E3 after '06, I just didn't care anymore.

it's a shame but if they want more sales they need to look beyond just fans of the original two, this could possibly be a good thing as it might open up the gameplay to new elements but knowing them they will probably just dumb it down

I doubt there will be a dead space 4 if they need 5 million sales and fill it full of dlc holes you have to pay to fill in.

If the masses didn't buy DLC it wouldn't exist

EA wasn't always this bad, but within the past couple of years, things have gotten much worse. I don't know much about dead space, but it doesn't shock me to hear EA is ruining yet another franchise. They already killed Mass Effect and Dragon Age, so I guess the sky's the limit for them.

And yes, I blame EA, not BioWare. Mass Effect was perfectly fine when it was being published by Microsoft, and Dragon Age: Origins was in development long before they were acquired by EA. Once EA had a hand in the direction their games took, both series became dumbed down and streamlined. Sure, BioWare sucks now, but what's the reason for that? They were perfectly fine until EA came into the picture...

EA games, challenge everything. Except the game playing public and the stupid money making schemes cooked up by idiots in board rooms who have never played a game in their life it would seem

You got that right. Everything said thus far has been spot on. EA has just took the downhill path and I suppose is attempting to drive itself into the ground. I used to support them for the longest time. Can't say that I do anymore, or ever will again. A lot of what they bring out is based merely on how much $$$ they can line their pockets with. I understand this is common and that no company is truly exempt from this same behavior... Alas EA has really dropped the ball, it's no longer about their supporters(us, the consumers). It's become a game of what they can manipulate the consumers to dish out for unacceptable and faulty products.

    Thank you!

Ever since ME2 I've felt EA was ruining BioWare. Glad to finally see someone else point this out. Generally ME fans try to claim that ME2 and ME3 are somehow better than ME. I have no idea how this argument can be made from any perspective. ME was a great sci-fi RPG with some shooting elements and a fantastic story. ME2 and ME3 were duck-and-cover shooters with some RPG elements and questionable stories.

I'm still learning everything about everything, but is there something else we can do besides boycott? Isn't whatever we do going to be offset by the masses who'll still buy the game because "OMG DAED SPACE!!11!"?

The only EA games i have are Dead Space, Dead Space 2 and FIFA 11 (this one was a gift). I didn't even bought NFS Hot Pursuit, made by Criterion (the guys from the Burnout series). Won't get NFS Most Wanted either.

I'll surely boycott this one. I'll save my money for something else. And if someday i end up getting Dead Space 3, it will be a used one. Dirty cheap.

The "news" just got posted on Destructoid: http://www.destructoid.com/ea-wants-dead-space-3-to-appeal-to-a-broad-audience-229567.phtml

Syndicate was actually pretty fun(even though completely different than OG game. You can blame that on EA obviously. They think gamers are too stupid and won't buy complex games). But yeah, fuck this shit. PLEASE YOUR AUDIENCE. You already have millions of fans, stay true to what the Brand is about. Don't go off fucking shit up trying to get more fans.

They were talking about this with Halo 4 too and at first it seriously pissed me off. But from what i've seen of the game it looks like it will be truer to the EU and have a more involved story.

Still not happy about the Spartan Ops and making MP Story related(Which honestly will not end well. The average Halo fan doesn't give a fuck about story when they are killing people for the best score and screaming into their mics) And whether you will need an XBL Gold account to get access to the downloable Spartan Ops episodes(Since they are story related and all I care about is SP in Halo)

But I digress, I SERIOUSLY hope this doesn't turn into a clusterfuck.. But knowing EA. I'll brace myself a little

MAYBE, they should ease up on wasting so much money on uncecessary PR and Advertising seriously. I bet their PR/ADV budget rivals the actual budget to make the game..

Not necessarily. Crysis 3 seems to be fixing some of the worst things about Crysis 2. Namely Alcatraz, the worst protagonist of all time IMO. I won't spoil the ending but i'm glad there will be some actual god damn dialogue during the game from your character this time around.

Now, the Multiplayer, yeah seeing how they treated C2MP I have no hope for it whatsoever.

This is my favorite quote from the Destructoid article

Newsflash: games are now being catered to casual idiots, while "gamer" idiots keep still buying them.

The funny part is that Syndicate sold horribly, which probably means that the general public wasn't interested in another generic modern FPS, and fans of the older games understandably gave it a pass.

EA just get worse by the generation... Even their Need for Speed titles are becoming more like Burnout, instead they take away burnout and call them Need for Speed because that title sells more... It's all about the money and not the content or the customers. I'm just waiting for Activision and EA to die, but we can only wait for another video game crash if they continue to stuff like this to on going fans.

It really sucks cause you know, EA used to be a fan favourite in the 90s but now, so many of us want to see them burn.

EA ruining franchises since the early 2000's - Command and Conquer and the Sim franchise have well and truly been screwed with. Was looking forward to play Sim City 5 but why do I need to play online if I'm only playing single player mode and no doubt if I want to build a deluxe police station or an airport thats an extra $5.00 DLC? Oh thats right to prevent piracy and money.
