@Yakumo: I have Metal Slug for Wii and can confirm that it does indeed support Gamecube controllers. It's the only way to play. On Topic: I picked up Sonic and the Secret Rings being a big Sonic fan myself, and while I've only opened up the 3rd "world", I think the game is really hit or miss. Overall I think when the controls work, it's an amazing experience... but that's too far and few between. Most of the time the game is just frustrating to me (the walking backwards motion is very awkward to me).
The reson I got it was because it has been touted as the return of Sonic as a decent game. I may be put off by other 3d Sonics but I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this game (There is some 3d in Sonic 2 remember??) As been said before the controls are just plain knackering, the fun bits are the multi-player bits but that isnt up to much. I can deal with the Wii`s controls to some degree - Loved Red Steel but for Sonic just didn't connect with me. The Wii in general with only have a short life span as I see it, its gimmicky I till think the best games is the WII sports package.
An equally good Wii game (as in, one that's worth getting) is WarioWare. Believe me, when that thing starts it's a huge amount of fun. The only issue with it is that you supposedly can complete it in one day. However, you then unlock a load of extra features. Wii Play is OK, but nothing special. Certainly worth the extra £5 over just buying a controller.
I think Jp. was being sarcastic? Before and for about a year after its release many people thought the DS was gimmicky and would fail miserably against Sony's all-powerful super-high-tech multimedia PSP. They were wrong. And they'll be wrong about the Wii, too. As long as Nintendo have more systems in homes than Sony, devs will make Wii games. Business is business.
It does? that's great news. I'll be sure to pick it up then when they finally release it over here. Yakumo
