please will someone please explain to me what is happening to sonic team? i saw that their site has some strange tomb-stone-like badge on it.. what's that about? )
yes , every sega team rejoin the sega site. but i don't no why a tomb....they aren't dead , maybe the tomb is for the site? :smt024
Wheres the tomb? Anyways sonicteam.com says this at teh bottom.... Please be advised that all of our business operations will be transferred to SEGA Corporation effective as of July 1, 2004. Our websites are moving to the URLs noted below. Thank you for visiting the site. We appreciate your continued warm support. See you there. SEGA Corporation http://sega.jp/
Yeah some of the teams will retain their identity only rolled by into the Sega brand and not under a seperate subsidarie(dunno if that is spelt right but you get the picture.).We will still see the Sonic Team logo before games just as we did back in the Mega Drive and Saturn days. The trouble was as separte brands they had seperate shares and stuff and the bisuness was in a bit of a mess, this way it's much tidier for Sammy Sega holdings and they can put more money into game projects that merit it instaed of allocating seperate studio's a set budget.
Yes, they are dead. They keep rehashing the same old games. PSO was great on the DC... that was years ago though. It's horribly dated, and their latest release has an increased polygon count and some new stages, and that's about it.
You guys are gonna make me cry with talk like that, there's still hope..... :smt022 But yeah, as previously stated, Sonic Team and the Suzuki-less AM2 and I do believe Overworks (could be Hitmaker, I'm a little tired) will still exist, but they won't be their seperate companies, but rather parts of Sega again - sortof like Nintendo and their R&D groups.
Before the Saturn most of Sega's R&D teams where all under the Sega name. There was only really AM2 and Sonic Team that stood out. To me it looks like they are going back to the way they were when the Mega Drive was big. Yakumo
Sega has made bad choices. It isn't that all them were out landish or crazy enough to just might work. But they are a company of islands. THis group won't work with this group. that what i read from everyartical posted here. they cut there own throats by being Bitches. Just cause you make a Sonic or a Nights once doesn't mean you and your team can't help out another team. They were a company of islands with no one strong enough to control the super stars instead the leader catured to the developers as super stars. Taking all the brown M&M's out or filling their pools with avean or fiji water to keep them from quiting. Sega needed a strong preZodent to run the bitch but never had one willing to do that. If they would of Cut the bull shit they would of ruled the nest. Same can be said for any company or sports team. You get to many stars and nothing gets done because you have to tip toe around them so they don't quit or perform bad. So Sega's managment is to blam. Their big e3 suprise was The matrix online game. WHo the FU@k CAres.. i know i don't
it wasn't matrix online btw , it was a phantasy star. and i dont think this one is online (corect me if im wrong..) so thats a really cool surprise! yeah , not as cool if sega anounced a return in video games consoles... but..... imagine wich coold games that console could had..... sonic , nights , phantasy star , street of rage , shinobi , shining force, lunar , grandia , shenmue , ... sega was really great...and if they could make a new console with these games.... its nearly impossible , but.... have hope.... rayer: who know ? maybe in 5 years ....
A couple of notes: It was about a year into the DC's lifespan that each actual R&D group became it's own company. Although I've not read the details, I believe each company will be absolved and become part of Sega... not just structurally putting them under one roof. g_sepp is right. The "big announcement" was The Matrix Online. Phantasy Star Universe was some bullshit announcement on the side. My guess is that it's online, since in the promo movie it says "Phantasy Star Online 2?".
I don't understand why people are afraid of this "little" change... This is only a transitional stage. The BIG change will come when, in 2007, SEGA and Sammy have dissappeared as companies (that doesn't mean that they don't continue using their logos) and SEGA Sammy Holding builds the 4 new divisions. Then, we'll be able to see how much deep has been this change, and how much "SEGA" is still up.
If history repeats itself, which it almost always does, Sega will just get worse and worse off by this change. It's not a small change... they considered it a big change when each company broke off into it's own entities (it was all over gaming sites) and was thought to help Sega's shitty market position... it did absolutely fuck all. On that note, yes, it's a small change... but I don't think Sega or Sammy see it that way, and it still won't change the fact that the SEga that most of us here grew up loving is long gone, and never coming back.
Don't know if anyone noticed but Sonic Team are doing a contest to win on of these limited pin badges. All you have to do is choose a Sonic game that you own from a list of every Sonic game made. Then you'll be asked a question about that sonic game. The answer to the question will appear in the game's instruction book ! I did the question to Sonic R on the Saturn. Got the question right so with luck I will be receiving a nice Sonic Pin badge. Yakumo
Here's the link http://is.sonicteam.com/final/data.php From here you must first enter your details. After That you must select the Sonic game of your choice then on to the question. Also notice the only bit of English on this page. This event is participating limitation from Japan. Please understand the situation. Yakumo
