welp our little blue hedgehog sonic turns 20 its hard to believe its really been 20 years since we first fell in love with the little blue hedgehog its also weird to think sonic is almost old enough to drink >.> besides sonic generations coming this fall what else do you think or want SEGA to do for Sonic's 20th birthday? it would be really great if SEGA came out with a sonic 20 anniversary refurbished dreamcast just like they did for the 10th anniversary also what are some of your fun or interesting facts about sega and or sonic over then last 20 years? and do you have any fond or not so fond memory's of sega and or sonic over the last 20 years?
damn it hit the 9 instead of the 0 whos bright idea was it to put zero at the end of the number string -.-'
yes, it is hard to believe Sonic is 20 years old. I feel like a right old git. by the way, I fixed your thread title.
appreciate the title fix i know i feel old myself im only 6 years older then sonic its really amazing how fast time flys
Happy birthday! Hopefully his gift is euthanasia. Or alternately, getting someone other than Dimps to develop the 2D games. But seriously, the first three games, four if you count S&K as its own games, are the greatest 2D platformers ever. Everything after that has failed to live up to those standards, even though there have been some good games.
It doesn't seem like 5 minutes since I first played Sonic on the Mega Drive. I'd turn it on and my baby boy would be watching whilst sitting in his bouncy chair and he'd say ''SEGA'' as the white splash screen flashed up on the TV. He was 20 himself in May of this year and it's little things like this that act as a wake up call and make you realise just how quickly time flies by.
I heard that Sega's been waiting for this moment to announce Dreamcast II and that it's going to run circles around even next-gen hardware. Sources say it has TWO detachable touchscreen controllers with auto-detection (like Kinect) so you don't even have to touch them if you don't want to, they KNOW when you want to touch them and they touch THEMSELVES! It's also going to be backward compatible with EVERY Sega game ever made, regardless of whether it was on a Sega system or not. So it plays everything, it even has a slot for arcade boards.
Happy Birthday Sonic. As arguably the forums biggest Sonic fan, I'm totally bummed that I don't have a next Gen console to check out the Generations Demo that has just been released :-(
I...actually kinda liked the Generations demo. At the very least, the level design was a billion times better than anything Dimps could make, and the physics were also miles above the abomination that is Sonic 4. Hell, based on this 2-minute demo I say Sega should forget Sonic 4 ever existed and just call Generations Sonic 4.
He is already, basically everywhere except the US Coincidentally, in Japan it's 20. First four games: great. Everything that followed: mediocre at best.
Had great fun with Sonic 1,2 and 3 and Sonic 3D on the Mega Drive. Sonic 1 & Chaos on the Master System, Sonic R on the Saturn and Sonic Adventure 1&2 on the DC. Sonic Unleashed had its moments.
I'm downloading the demo now. I'm actually pretty excited to play this. I'll report back when I have since I know everyone here is anxiously waiting for my opinion.
Did you like the demo? I thought it was great, my only concern is it looks to run at 30fps and looked jerky to me... it really needs to run at 60fps. I am really looking forward to this, I just hope Sega dont ruin it by making him turn it to a wear hog or some other rubbish like city missions which involve messing about talking to people. That really bugged me with unleashed, the demo was perfect, just pure action... but the full game had so much more rubbish in it which it didn't need. Happy Birthday anyway Sonic!
Downloaded the demo myself earlier and quite liked it, my only criticism of it is the background and foreground are a little 'busy' and the depth perception - to me at least - appeared a little off with with seemingly accessible platforms being part of the scenery. Apart from that as I say I liked it, it moves along at a fair old lick and I almost always felt in control. Is this the game that finally sets Sonic free from the dreck of the last decade ( not including Sonic Colours ) and puts him back on the map for another 20 years with a new and reinvigorated approach? Here's hoping
there's a demo? Good job I read that. The Japanese 360 has no promotion for it but it is there for downoad. Downloading it right now.
