Happy 20th Birthday, Sonic The Hedgehog. In 1995, you were one of two characters (other was Mario) who introduced me to video games, and entertained me on the Sega Genesis for much of my childhood. I look forward to Generations, and the rest of your prolonged existence, wherever that leads you. Just don't try to be cool anymore, you're long past your glory now. =P Other than that, lots of hugs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1_mNirAgC0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUX4uHn50fk Let's party.
Well, I played the demo and yes it does feel like the classic sonic very much. In fact I'd say it's very good. There is a problem though and that is the frame rate. The game moves quite fast but at the 30fps it's currently running at everything looks blured. The frame rate needs to be a 60fps. If Sega do this (they still have a while before the release) then I'm betting this will be the return we've been waiting for. Of corse the anal gobshites will whine about something but what do you expect. Let's just hope the modern Sonic levels don't let the game down. Yakumo
im 110% excited about generations and im a die hard sonic fan ( meaning sonic adv 2 to sonic 4 sucked ass ) colors is also alright to me but to much on rails i hope this is he reboot sonic has been looking for,for a very very very long time hopefully we get 3 sequels out of generations and new level designs and ideas
I played the very first rev of Sonic. It was the one with the floating platforms, think it was seen in Wayne's World but I'm not sure, memory is a bit fuzzy on that... They actually had to slow the game down. I remember the Star Zone being way way too fast. I told the bastards to keep it fast but he kept going off screen haha... It was so sad waiting for the MD to keep up. Poor little MC68000
Happy Birthday Sonic! I grabbed my Megadrive and played the classics for a while, got really frustrated with the first two games though!!! Then I played Sonic 3 & Knuckles and got a little addicted again! I found myself humming to the music in each stage. What a great game... I also have an emotional attachment to Sonic 3D. It may be the first Sonic game I ever played, back on the PC. I hadn't played it for a decade when I found the music again in 2007 and it was like blast from the past! I was supposed to be studying for exams that night but I ended up listening to all the music!!! It isn't a great game, it doesn't have anything to do with Sonic, but I still like it. It's pretty nostalgic too. I don't know why people get so pumped up about Generations though. To me it looks like every 2D Sonic game from the last 10 years or so. It endorses nonstop speed and allows for very little platforming. I think Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a perfect example of balance, it had a lot of platforming and a lot of running at incredible speeds for the wow effect.
It's as easy as changing the console date... you have to be disconnected from xbox live of course... About the demoit looks great, there are some issues with the physics ( the ones when you turn into a ball ) an overpowered spindash, and some minor stuff here and there but it sure looks better than anything that came after sonic adventure 2.
If Sega have any sense this they'll make this the last Sonic game. If they really get it right and it finally gives us the modern Sonic we've been waiting for then I see no need to carry on from there.
There has yet to be a 3D Sonic game that hasn't sold over a million copies, or so I've been told. Sonic Heroes in particular sold loads. If Sega have any financial sense* they'll keep riding that mascot for every last penny, fuck what the fans think. *they don't, so who knows.
