Didn't see a thread about this, so: http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/sony/bravia-kdl22px300/sony-kdl22px300 If you think a Sony 22 inch HD TV for this price sounds like a good deal then consider this. The Sony KDL22PX300 also has BRAVIA Internet Video Access and a full Sony PlayStation 2 built-in! Yes, you did read that correctly, a Sony PS2 built-in! This means that you can not only playback DVDs and CDs through the TV but also any old Play Station games you may still have. Perfect for the bedroom, games room or office, we're expecting this Sony TV to be a big hit. Ideal for smaller rooms, the Sony KDL-22PX300 doesn't compromise on picture quality. Featuring a BRAVIA Engine 3, HD Ready screen this portable Sony offers excellent resolution. Dynamic Contrast ensures that all shades between pitch black and brilliant white are perfectly maintained. This gives a true sense of realism and improved definition. Other features such as a 3D comb filter and MPEG noise reduction ensure a clean, sharp picture, whatever the source. Like any small and flat TV, the Sony KDL22PX300 is limited in terms of sound output. Having said that, this particular Sony comes packed with added sound enhancements. S-Force boosts the sound and Clear Voice makes dialogue easier to follow. There's also a wide range of surround effect modes plus the option of outputting the sound via a digital output. When it comes to features and connections, the KDL22PX300 has to be the very best in its class. For a start there's BRAVIA Internet Video onboard. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet (or wi-fi by optional dongle) and enjoy access to YouTube, Lovefilm, BBC iPlayer plus many other sites. Then of course there's the PS2 built-in. This comes with a single controller and is brilliant fun for playing all those classic old games on. Should you not want to play games then you can simply use it as a decent quality DVD and CD player. For a TV with so much built-in, the number of connections is hugely impressive. There can't be many, if any, other 22 inch TVs out there with 4 HDMI sockets - but that's how many the Sony has. Added to this is SCART, component, a PC input, twin optical digital outputs, headphone and audio outputs, 3 USB sockets (2 at USB 1.1) and 2 Ethernet connections. Without doubt, this is the most comprehensively equipped 22 inch TV we've ever seen! If the KDL22PX300 were just a TV, it would make a fine buy. With all the extras we think it's the small TV bargain of the year - with bells on! Can't believe how well spec'd it is for the price (£199.99), let alone it has a PS2 built in. Wish I had need for a second TV, I'd be all over getting one!
Dammit, just bought a 19" TV a month or so ago but would have loved to have waited and i could have got this one instead as it is way better and for this price looks great.
Aww, cute. It's a nice thought, playing all Playstation generations on your new PS3 and Bravia combo. I assume it's basically just the exact guts from a PS2 Slim slammed into the base of the TV? I wonder if these will attain a nice rare/legendary status as the previous TV/Console combos have.
Yeah, that's really cool. Strange that Sony haven't done this sooner considering they've been selling LCD TVs with built-in DVD players for years. It'd be cool to get a look at the PCB to see if it's possible to add a HDD or mod-chip. The DVD drive has a sliding cover which might be easier for swap-discs?
It doesn't have much choice about that, the real question is whether it supports 480p. My guess is that it's set to use component, since there's a component input on the back, so it probably would, although the manual is keeping quiet so possibly not. I'd love to play around with one of these... can't justify the price on such a tiny screen though (it's only 1366x768, as well). The slim guts (which this almost certainly uses, or a minor variant thereof) can be modded to add a proper HDD. It's got USB sockets so depending on what you want to do it might work there anyway (the manual seems to say there are two dedicated USB ports for the PS2). You can also use the ethernet port for online play while in PS2 mode, which is pretty decent of the designers, though probably not particularly practical any more. If previous console-in-a-TV units are anything to go on, this'll be quite a collectable in years to come. Not sure whether this is just the first of many?
I'm kinda bummed they didn't write some new firmware that allowed the XMB of the TV to load PS2 games as the PS3 BC units do. Instead it seems to boot into the old PS2 system? Clunky and half-assed. But still awesome.
Best picture I can find. It actually looks really nice, it's just that sliding DVD tray cover seems so half-arsed. Surely it would have been better to charge £10 more and go for a tray loading drive or even a posh slot loader. I sort of want one, even though I have no need for it, and 22" is a bit small really.... Sony Europe don't have this listed on their main site, but they do have it in the support section (manuals dated 17/9/10), with a warning that the product may not be available in this country. Odd. It's also not showing up on the US site.
That's weird, but cool. Usually when a company releases a TV/console combo it's at the height of that console's popularity, not after the next generation has already come out. Isn't that right?
This is actually really cool, except for the disc cover system, and I don't really like how the PS2 part protrudes from under the TV, but that's kind of understandable. And it's a pretty good deal, since isn't a new PS2 still like €99 or something crazy like that?
Yep, it retails at that price for years now, amazing that Sony is still making so much money out of it.
well the base seems the be completely hollow so you could just take the base apart soder some long wires on the power supply and do some modding so a network adapter will fit and boom issue solved
