But the problem is netflix ... MS is dealing with netflix not Sony. We don't know if netflix is paying to offer this service in x360, I think this is the problem of licensing. I think in a week or less all the films will be available on XBL.
Netflix has a blanket licensing agreement for streaming. The Xbox 360 isn't any different from the many other Netflix streaming clients. If it were an issue of non-payment or not having streaming rights, the movies wouldn't be available on *any* of the Netflix streaming devices. -hl718
mmm are you sure that the movies companies let netflix "share" his movies to "any" device on any platform for the "same" price? Is strange. I thought that the movie companies "choose" the platforms where they want to share his contents. If you're right then sony will have to renegotiate his agreement with netflix to "quit" the films on x360 specifically, if not, they will have to put again or netflix can denounce sony (and I think that the films will be on XBL very soon).
Yes. That's why this is so odd. If the titles simply disappeared from the streaming menu, no one would question it. Titles come in and out of there as licensing expires. Netflix's streaming license is akin to a broadcast license. The stream can be viewed on any compatible player. In short, having all the titles suddenly not work on the Xbox 360, but continue to work on all the other Netflix streaming players would only be caused by Sony going to Netflix and throwing a fit. -hl718
One question, here in europe the video bazar doesn't work. Before netflix and the new dash, the sony films was available on X360?
Its funny you should mention the whole issue of stuff coming in and out, cause when I put "shrimp on the barbie" in my instant que for immediate viewing on 360, it said available till Dec 1, which really surprised me as ive never seen that before on a streaming title. I got real annoyed when sony did this on nxe launch day, was gonna watch real genius but that got axed due to them not allowing their films to stream on 360. Still I'm enjoying this instant streaming from netflix. Just wish there were a lot more titles to watch in HD.
In italy it works as a DRM download. you pay from 2.6 or 3.7 euros to download a file in SD or HD that you can watch in the following 14days. But only for one day (24h after the first vision). if they were drm-less i might have bought some. so IMHO MS will fail at this in europe.
That's not Netflix, thats just MS's video marketplace. I find it good for watching a HD movie once in awhile but I think I've used it maybe twice. Now my HD is full of games so I just stream ripped movies from the computer.
Yeah, it really sucks that Sony won't allow XBox users to watch their movies on a rival format for no additional license fee. Damn those handsome rogues! *shakes fist*
I don't think Columbia-Tristar makes games. I also think Sony makes set top boxes and stuff. Do they block the other brands of TV boxes??
Looks like sony movies are now working. Though it's reported its most not all of the library. Finally can watch real genius and american pop on my 360.
