Can we get another translation from someone? The mention of the peripherals lends itself to game hardware rather then machines, but I dont know Japanese so
If you scroll down to the bottom of the Japanese page, you can see the list of available testing positions: game tester (two types), hardware tester, blu-ray player tester. The quoted ad is for the second category: general hardware tester. The description goes like, "you can play/try out new 'things' like new functions of the Playstation 3 and new peripherals before they are put on sale." (PLAYSTATION®3の新機能、新しい周辺機器など、新しいモノを発売前にプレイ出来ます。) This most likely refers to testing firmware updates and testing games on new firmwares or with new peripherals. There is no mention of a "new game machine". Ads like these are usually kept very vague. Why would they mention a new system just to deal with hundreds of opportunistic applications? Gamespot either got too excited too fast or they just wanted to raise their site access rank.
