I am looking into setting up a small BB for future use (hopefully for game beta testing). Does anyone have any recommendations for webhosting (preferably cheap)? I have been looking through the WebHostingTalk forums, but that is enough to drive a sane person mad. Mostly looking for shared/managed, though if someone has a really nice deal on dedicated/managed, I'll look at that too.

I use godaddy and love it. $3 bucks a month for 5 gig of space and 250 gig of bandwidth. Also shared, but it never really seems to matter.

Do either of those have a "CPU" clause? I was looking at DreamHost, but they seem to have a maximum amount of CPU time per month you can use that seemed rather (read: ridiculously) low.

If Godady has it, then I missed the fine print. I've got the same setup as ProgrammingAce

Top Class Host is ok, Shared server but what do you expect for 100$ a year. 4GB space / 200GB bandwidth

    I'm with powweb, 12gb space, 10gb a day (330/month) costs me £50 for 18 months. Which is what, £3 a month? I'm happy. Obviously it's shared.

I think the CPU clause is along the lines that if my site uses more than 30% of server resources for 60 seconds or longer then I get an email, if it continues for a day or so I get disconnected.

I went ahead with GoDaddy. Really hard to pass up 50/500 GB (storage/transfer) and under 80ms ping from here. The only question now is what the hell do I do (legally) with 1000 email addresses...
