As you know, I know several developers over the world. Sometimes I consult in an unofficial fashion. I got done checking out some.. things.. All I have to say is that microsoft is in deep, deep trouble. This is going to be an coup event on the magnitude of saturn vs psx. We're talking if it was the original saturn with one Sh-2.. You can imagine. Unlike sega, microsoft has gone final and doesn't have the luxury of an emergency hardware change like sega had. In short, they are going to be slaughtered. It seems that ps3 is in fact approaching THREE TIMES the performance of the not yet even released xbox 360. We're talking about games that look like the final battle scene from Star Wars episode 2. And what I saw is at least 5 months to BETA. Everything I have seen on ps3 looks like CINEMA RENDERS, and when you realize it is THE GAME, not the lead-in cinema.. Imagine all the lovely cinemas from all your favorite ps2 games, realtime. I can't show you pictures, or name names. All I can say is that we are in for some very interesting times, and it is a great time to be a gamer.
So...I'll want PS3 for absufucking amazing graphics... Revolution because of whatever amazing thing Nintendo isn't showing us...(It'll be cheaper too) And Xbox 360 for ???????. Hey, wait a minute Mr. I'mWellConnectedInTheIndustry. Do you know anything about revolution?
Oh, I guess that's not to surprising... Well, you're right in saying it's going to be interesting. Three systems...and they all seem different...
The Killzone video is awesome, don't you think. All explosions and things happening at the same time. But i think the Xbox360 will have it's share of the market too. I just read about a game called The Outfit that looks promising. One thing is sure thought. The PS3 power is scary. Hope they change the controller design though
Microsoft is trying to get in a shitload of sales before they get raped by Sony. Nintendo is just pullin up a chair, grabbin some popcorn, and watching the fight (while they sell a goodly amount).
Nintendo is very smart, it'll make a lot of money with good focused titles. There is enough room for them, as they are their own market.
Very cool but are you talking 3 times more powerful then the final 360 or just the ones at E3. Cause according to IGN the E3 ones are alpha units running at 1/3 the power. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/615/615667p1.html
So far I've been blown away by the PS3 tech demos I've seen on G4. Something I can't say about the Xbox360. One of the pics I saw of Warhawk on Ign last night I thought was concept art until I saw the video. Simply amazing. The demo for Fight Night wowed me as well. I think MS may have pulled a Dreamcast trying to get the 360 out early. Time will tell about that tthough.
All I can say is someone made a very good point about from what we've heard from Nintendo and seen...If they can get the system to launch for around $200 then they will have smooth sailing. A move like that would definitely keep Nintendo as a major player.
This is what Epic's Mark Rein had to say about the demos: If thats the case, the 360 may be dead in the water. Though since the Unreal3Engine is the middleware for both, the majority of the games will probably look like what can come off said middleware and others -P.
Personally I can`t see them having dev kits that aren`t up to spec already What chance would developers have of trying to get stuff ready if the specs keep changing Can anyone confirm or flame this from past dev systems?
Shit, if this info is coming from ASSEMbler, that's good enough for me. I sorta suspected as much though, the Xbox was superior to the PS2 because it got designed a little later, but Sony has always put together revolutionarily powerful hardware with each generation. I dunno why anyone suspected any less this time around. I know Nintendo will still manage to make a good place for themselves, and frankly, if MS gets squeezed out this generation, I'm ok with that. Halo will likely keep them alive though.
But remeber....the powerful console did'nt win every generation. Look at the videogame history... I'll just wait and see....remember the tech demos Sony showed to promote PS/PS2? PD
I can imagine future games that are made from film licences using the exact same 3d accets from the movies themselfs...
