If you ask me, this forum lacks a couple of movie threads. I consider myself quite a splatter fan and I'm always on the hunt for new old jewels of the genre. That's why I thought I might open a thread that discusses exactly that, films from the following genres: Exploitation Sexploitation Zombie horror Cannibal horror Animal horror (lol) Slasher Trash feel free to combine these expressions. XD Some recommendations from my side: Island of the Living Dead (1979, I) Hahahah, pure trash and unlike Romero's Dawn there's no deeper meaning recognizable whatsoever. But the movie has no lengths (which is unusual for Fulci IMO) and lots of great splatter scenes. Along with The Beyond (which is actually "scary") I'd say this is Fulci's best. Tokyo Gore Police (2008, JP) Incredibly gory trash shite, incredibly entertaining as well. I've watched this together with two friends and we've laughed our asses off while we were being introduced to what seemed like an even more bloody version of a Miike film. Absolutely stunning, looking extremely forward to the director's next project, Robogeisha (^^). À L'intérieur (2007, F) Probably a bit better known as "Inside", this is real hardcore splatter from France. Not as dirty as in the "good old days", but it's very hard in its own style. Great stuff, lots of panic moments and shitloads of blood, I was impressed. Especially since it's an exception that something like that comes from France. I'd like to keep this thread based on memorablia, recommendations, short reviews ect. The nasty stuff is always welcome. Personally, I'm no fan of cannibal horror or animal horror (oh god, the giant crocodiles are coming!!111 WTFLOL), but trash movies always great. Like Story of Ricky, Street Trash, Toxic Avenger... yee /edit I'm wondering if you people who are not from Germany have heard of our small splatter trash culture. Jörg Buttgereit (Nekromantik) and Olaf Ittenbach (Legion of the Dead, Black Past) come to my mind. I haven't seen those movies yet, but Ittenbach is supposed to be pure trash while the Nekromantik (a combination of necrophilia and romance) movies are considered "art" in Germany and, therefore, not forbidden despite the gore factor.
ave: I know you do not speak or read Danish, but still http://www.uncut.dk/ needs to be mentioned, cause I have read about many of those you have mentioned there. But one I must say is the most disgusting I have seen (not scary) but vomit inducing is Braindead . But yeah I do enjoy those crazy films too every now and then. But as usual the particular film (in its uncut form) is banned in Germany.
You're right on time for the release of the french zombie movie "La Horde", you can watch the trailer here: http://www.allocine.fr/video/player_gen_cmedia=18941821&cfilm=135625.html One movie I wanted to watch badly was canned last year (after all we like unreleased stuff around here), Worst Case Scenario was its name, you can find info and 2 trailers at http://www.gorehoundinc.com/
Thanks for the link, although I don't understand a word it's quite interesting to discover new movies from the screenshots. I can always look them up on German/English fansites, so the Danish language ain't that much of a problem here Braindead is badass. I didn't mention it because everyone has probably seen it here, but it's a goddamn jewel. I'm a Peter Jackson fan anyway, Bad Taste is such a sick but awesome movie... one of the very few that actually succeeds to make me sick by watching it. Drinking green alien barf? Eating brain out of a head with a spoon? Oh damn you Mr Jackson!! I also love Meet the Feebles as I'm a muppet show addict. As for the DVD, there's a hilariously cut FSK16-Version for sale LOL. There's a German webpage that's focussed on cuts in movies (TV<->DVD, german DVD <-> uncut ect.) and games. Here's the incredible Braindead-report: http://schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=845 I bought the fully uncut Blood Edition DVD from Austria when I was 15 btw.
Known as one of the most, if not the most extreme snuff film ever created: http://www.runningwithscissors.com/august-undergrounds-mordum
I was just listening to the OST from the film the other night. I'm a pretty big fan of all those genres. Black Devil Doll from Hell is also a must see for any blackploitation fan. The original and the remake are both bizarre beyond belief.
I love splatter movies too but must say that I thought Tokyo Gore Police to be really stupid with blood that did look 100% like red water.
自殺サークル (Suicide Circle, Suicide Club) I don't know if it qualifies as a splatter movie, but there is blood, enough of it. And it is pretty crazy, too!
I remember watching an early 90's Japanese splatter movie where a TV reporter crew enter this abandoned warehouse in search of someone. One by one they are killed in some gory fucked up way. The last women is raped (although they don't show any of that in detail which is good) then has her throat slit. The scene that still makes me squeamish though is the blade through the eye which honestly does look real. No monsters, no stupid fantasy crap, just pure good old Japanese mind games splatter action. Now if only I could remember the name of the movie.
Have you ever seen Battle Royale? That is a good Japanese 'slasher' movie... though not exactly a typical generic one.
Herschell Gordon Lewis is probably regarded as the Godfather of gore films. While they're all incredibly cheesy by today's standards, Two Thousand Maniacs, The Wizard of Gore, and Blood Feast were pretty grotesque going by what was being made in the late 60's. They're still pretty good for a laugh, and they sfx's were actually not to bad for such a low budget films from that time.
Flower of Flesh and Blood [血肉の華], that one was some crazy shit and very disturbing to watch. it even fooled charlie sheen once, who reported it to the MPAA which then alerted the FBI, in believing it must be about a real snuff movie. he never dies [死なない男] in contrary was a very funny flick
I just got a movie called "Zombie Strippers" with Jenna Jameson. No, it's not that kind of movie. Very good, lots of breasteses and people getting eaten, heads getting shot off, guts getting ripped out, plus Robert Englund plays a pimp in it also. Definitely worth watching.
This is a cool thread. A few movies have popped up in here I didn't know of. I think the most stupid movie I have seen is one called 'The Worm Eaters', late 70's flick. I will check out my dvd collection tonight and shoot some more over.
Look up Slaughter slaughter slaughter i have no idear if this film is real but im sure it will be one day .
Oh my God, I saw the first one of them yesterday. That is some serious fucked up shit that I never want to see again. I love a good bloody gore movie but that Guinea Pig film was more like a full on snuff movie. I mean, it was seriously disturbing. So much so that I deleted the whole series (all 9 of them) from my Hard Drive without even taking a glimpse at the 8 I never watched. Yakumo
