Hello! First, I want to say how much I'm really enjoying my Everdrive64. It's very fast and runs everything I throw at it. I am, however, having a lot of issues saving my progress on any N64 title that used SRAM. I've done a fair amount of research and see that it can be a common problem. The only advice I have come across is reformat your card or try a different card altogether. I have done this and am also using the 3.14a recommended rom sets. Still, no matter what I try I cannot save my progress on any title that saves natively with SRAM. In my ED64's save folder I see that the files are created, but when I play the corresponding game it does not seem to find the saves. A game like Ocarina of Time, for example, will show 3 blank save slots. I've tried over 10 different rom versions of this title on 2 reformatted cards and the save issue persists. I've seen the intro so many times I now have it memorized. Fly, Navi, fly! Here are some specs to help diagnose my problem: Firmware 2.23 OS 1.27 SD interface 4bit System type NTSC Assembly 9.7.2012 I did have a bit of luck when reverting to OS 1.22 with The New Tetris. Under that OS the save file worked. Zelda was still a no-go. Games using other save types work flawlessly for me, but nothing with SRAM under the current OS works. For me, at least. If anyone out there is having luck with these titles, please let me know what I should be trying. My Kingston and Sandisk memory cards both produce the same issues, even after being FAT32'd repeatedly. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If I can provide any more helpful details, please let me know.
Try to remove save files, then run zelda, make game account, let say "bob" in first save slot, hit the reset and send whole ED64 folder to me. Please stop your spam attack on all threads, otherwise i will not answer on any of your questions
Okay, I can do that. Sorry about the "spam" attack. I've been at this for the better part of a day and just wanted some help. I had tried everything I could think of and didn't know what to do. After waiting for a month after my purchase I was very excited to get this device so I was understandably frustrated when I couldn't fix what seemed to be a simple yet uncommon problem. Should I send the folder to the e-mail address I tried before my "spam" attack (the g-mail address provided in the OS menu info)? That would be the address I tried 1st and have yet to receive a reply from. I respect your work, not your manners. As the maker and sole tech supporter of this device you should not threaten to withhold help just because a newbie needs it. I did not know that asking about my issue in relevantly topiced threads (what was it, 5 or so) counted as "all threads". Again, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but your tone makes me wish I'd bought a competing device from someone who wouldn't make me feel like a scolded child for having problems with yours. In an effort to clean up "all threads" (though I did double check to see that I had asked similar questions in 5) I have removed my previous calls for help. I did a lot of searching on my own before asking for help here. I exchanged messages with folks on other forums who were baffled by this issue. I didn't start with "spamming". No matter how irritating someone gets, withholding tech support as a threat is no way to treat a customer.
I sent it just now :smile-new: I hope the information it helpful. I really am enjoying this amazing device. Once I figure out how to fix my save files it will be the perfect N64 backup solution for me. My thanks, SL
Hmm, looks weird. I wonder if flashram saves will work on your cart. Try to make saves in StarCraft64 and paper mario
Sure thing. When I do, should I e-mail you the saves it creates? PS I'm not sure if this is worth noting, but when I placed my order at retrogate for the cart I had a USB port installed just in case. I don't know how that would affect anything, but it's one of the only differences I can think of between my cart and most people's. Thanks, KRIKzz! PPS I just created saves for the two games mentioned above. They look like fla files. I zipped them and sent them your way.
Oops. Okee dokee. I just tried Paper Mario and the save file worked great! It looked like flash memory. What might it mean if my flash memory is working but not my sram?
I understand. Would you be able to send me a PM with the address you'd like me to send it to? Thank you.
Thank you! I tried to reply but the message did not seem to send properly. I sent it to biokrik@gmail.com instead. Thank you so much for taking a look at the cart. I look forward to hearing about how it goes =)
Interesting. Please let us know how it goes. My Everdrive64 was brand new. It was manufactured this month and arrived at my door 3 days ago. How old is yours?
Hi, I just got mine from retrogate a few days ago, exactly the same build i.e Firmware 2.23 OS 1.27, SD interface 4bit, System type NTSC Assembly 9.7.2012 N64 NTSC console, as sleepinglion. I too cannot save correctly with Zelda Ocarina Of Time V1.0 US Rom. I played through the first bit up to the Deku Tree section, saved, then hit reset. Loaded up the game again and all three slots are blank. I also, tried your file you uploaded here. Again, all 3 slots are blank. Resident Evil 2 US rom also does not work, as that uses sram. I made a save in the police station, hit reset but there is no save upon reloading the game. I addition, if the user uses the typewriter in the police station on resident evil 2 using 1 of the 2 ink ribbons that you pick up next to it, make a save and then use the second ink ribbon without resetting the console, the first save, the user makes is no longer there. Something must be wrong somewhere with the ED64 if it is not even storing the sram save in ram using resident evil 2 as an example. However, DK64 US f2 rom with force sram seems to work , which is needed to keep progress later on in the game. Can you please advise Krikzz?
