I'd trade SSF2 support for real time save - any day ;)

Only problem is that real time save on real hardware is never going to be perfect and it's pretty likely it would not be compatible with a fair number of games.

Also on Everdrive the only memory large enough to hold a state is flash or the SD card... You'd have to think twice about saving/loading because it'd be less "real-time save" and more "minute-later save".

Gamers have gotten so soft nowadays with their saves and their lowered difficulty. Enjoy the genesis for what it is. Its an arcade like experience at home. Sometimes you will get far sometimes you wont and eventually you will master it and kick serious butt. Back in the day that was the definition of replayability.

I totally agree with @ceramicion. The old games were all about going as far as you could, dying then rinse and repeat until completion. The fact that when you die its 'GAME OVER' keeps you playing to see what the next level is like, and if you finally win then its a massive glory moment. That's just my opinion anyway.

Edit: Sorry for going off topic.

Ok ok this is off topic but I once was a hardcore console gamer growing up. and trust me I know the feeling of spending a whole Saturday trying finish sonic 2 or something ha, yeah games those days took a whole day to finish without saving or cheats.

These days I'm just too busy and I'm more of a casual gamer who just wants to finish a game asap and move on. With directorship and investment banking, I'm just too busy these days and sometimes I just want to fire up an old console game and play through it using saves (usually not cheats) asap see the ending and then that's my relief from work and stress ha. So yeah I do know and respect that games have gotten easier these days but when you're busy you just don't have the time to dedicate hours to it

@Bboydocument Good point. It was easy as a kid to spend days at a time playing video games lol. I too have a hard time finding the time to really get stuck into games.
Anyway games change with the times. I don't think games now are bad in anyway. In fact the save mechanics are great for modern games.

Note to self: Don't write the same word over and over in a post. (games)

It's been done for the NES PowerPak:

Couldn't this be done for the EverDrive too, with a future OS update perhaps?

I don't like the game, but I think the SNES version is much better. If I had to play it, it would be in MAME. I'd love to see new or optimized Everdrive features.

either the md and the sf version of street fighter are crap looking at the original arcade version

so for me, it's not a loss

you want to look at those version only for nostalgic reason.
    i can understand that.

I wouldn't want to loose compatibility for SF just to implement features that make the experience closer to an emulator.

SSF2 is a dirt cheap common title, long excelled by numerous versions on later consoles. I'd forget it. Easily found CIB well under $10 before postage anyway.
