Asking because a replicate dproto is on eBay? I seriously doubt the eBay cart is original - people have been using donor carts from existing games and flashing Starfox 2 onto them for some time. I don't think it ever got finished, I also think it used a a sightly different FX chip too but I think they did get quite far making it though before it was canned.
The roms has been arround for quite some time. I remeber there being a big topic on the old board. The game was pretty far completed and was playable. But i doubt and original will ever surface, thus far it's just been reflashed carts that usually go for ridiculous ammounts on ebay.
the game had the fx2 chip in it , there's 2 new nuddy in yout team (i think its cath and the other , just like sf 64 , but don't remember) alot of ideas from star fox 2 proto was taken for star fox 64 , like the ''all-range mode". at one time , you was able to play a demo in alot of video games shops (sadly , i've never saw those) . and the game is finished , you can play it on emulation finished , but somes proto found wheren't. ask the question to the seller. and goodluck ;-)
SF2 was about 98/99% complete. The Japanese version that I have still has framerate and polygon counters displayed in the top left of the screen. There is an English patch in the works, but incomplete. However, there is supposed to be a fully english version out there somewhere, that has no on-screen-display and is slightly more complete, but I can't find it. Anyways, if you want to play it on a cart instead of an emu (and who wouldn't), you're gonna need an Eeprom burner and compatible eprom (27C801-200, 8mbit), Stunt Race FX cart for a donor and SNESTool software. Oh, and bad-ass ultimate soldering iron skills. But it is possible.... http://snesdev.romhack.de/sf2.htm PM me if you need anything..... (Oh, and if anyone in the UK does have bad-ass soldering skills, fancy wiring a Unibios into a MV-1C MVS board for me please?)
Stunt Race FX will work for the first two revisions of SF2, the "final" revision requires a Yossy's Island.
Can you play the Starfox 2 Rom on an emulator? Also does anyone have a reliable link for a site where i might find it. I've found it several times but it's either a corrupt zip or the llink does not work. Cheers guys
i don't know why it should be a big problem, this game was never released . i rarely take emulator for something else than playing beta or never released stuff, and i don't think i'm a criminal for this. if it was released , then maybe , but they wheren't .
Oh god....do we have to go all over this again for you cahaz.Goldfish syndrome may be setting in for you, consult your doctor immediately mate :-( The game,no matter how complete is still property of nintendo and the material and story is still patented by them. The rom is stolen material also,no matter how rom sites tart it up and there is talk of it being finished for DS or GBA though I doubt it will happen. I think this topic shoul be locked mods, everything that has been said about Starfox 2 has been said on these boards and it just creates arguments about romz etc...
uh? did i've post a link? no. anyway, i don't know why a unreleased game that nintendo never done cash with it could be illegal compared to others prototypes and dev machines. never i've posted a link, if i can remember you this. does the forum say : Dedicated to rare, prototype, and developers video game systems. ? no, not roms , but i don't see anyone that posted a link. star fox is still a proto.
Cahaz has a point. He never posted a link, and he was only stating his opinion on prototypes. I think you (Nintendomad) went a little too far with this, You didn't have to insult cahaz like that.
There are three versions of Star Fox 2 that I know of (Look around if you want one.) One is such an early version that only has a few selectable levels via a menu while the other is in Japanese and the final being 100% complete. Or at least you can play it from start to finish. There possibly are other versions of Star Fox 2 out there. This is nothing new either. Star Fox 2 ROMs have been available since the later half of the 90's. It wasn't until 2 years or so ago that the ZSNES team were able to get their emulator to run it. Even then it would flicker like hell. Now emulators such as the more up to date versions of ZSNES and also SNES9X I believe, will play Star Fox 2 without any hitches. If any of you guys want to see something more interesting then why not try to dig up some information of long lost Super FX chip games. I'm talking about stuff like FX Fighter, some boxing game by Elector Brain, Dirt Bike game by US Gold (I think) and a rally game by Elite. I saw all of these running in my past. Even played FX Fighter, the Dirt Bike game and the Rally game by Elite. All were complete crap though. So it's not surprising that they never got released. But what I would like to see is pictures of that Electro Brain boxing game. They had a video of it running way back in 1996 or 1997 ETCS. Yakumo
Yes, that's right. I'm not sure if the PC version was brought out after the SNES version had been dropped or if it was developed along side of it. The SNES version looks much worse than the PC game. I'm pretty sure that Argonaut were making the SNES version. Yakumo
Over again. Here's an earlier thread in which a little ink was spilled over SF2: http://www.assemblergames.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1424&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ~Krelian
