Is it possible that one of them was the english version(I've seen screen shots of it in english on some pages)? By the way I read that egms walkthrough was based on the ces demo, in fact they admitted this themselves(in one of their old issues on games that didn't get released).
I've never seen a BBS "release." Thanks to a good scener, I have almost the complete SNES/SFC scene archived, this means every shitty .txt file no matter how insignificant, and no Star Fox 2 releases. AFAIK, also ALL SF2 betas are 8M.
Shapes and sizes I have three different SMCs of StarFox 2 weighing in at: 262,160 bytes (Crashes emulator on load) 945,507 bytes (Gives SPC700 Stall on load) 1,048,576 bytes (Loads a seemingly complete game with debug menu and frame rate counter) ~Krelian
when the assembler boards were back in the days on 'ezboard' some member posted an link to an website of an dude who made those 'custom cartrigdes' (with the best version of starfox2 on it) does by any change someone still have the link?
That's a very interesting site. Doesn't seem too hard to make a StarFox 2 cart.... Got me thinking though, is it possible to dump Satellaview games on to a cart to play?? Surely the Satellaview hardware was only needed to connect the SuperFamicom to the Sky box and to dump the downloaded games on to the memory cart. Unless the games were coded to only work with the SV present. It would be nice to put F-Zero2 onto a cart...
Yeah... that's his point. He wants to blow them onto PROM and play them on a SNES. As stated, the Satellite connection was only for downloading the games, aside from that the unit didn't really do anything. There was a little extra work ram, and some storage iirc... Some scans of the PCBs can be found at http://snescentral.edgeemu.com/peripherals/Satellaview/
I think F-Zero 2 was a Sateliview game just like the many different cups that you can find. The odd thing is that F-Zero 2 runs on the emulators while the extra cup tracks don't. There's also a Mario bike racers that won't run on any emulator or at least not when I last tried. Yakumo
If ever it happens... If it ends up working out I'd love to dump Radical Dreamers onto a stand-alone cart as well... it'd be a nice novelty... =) ~Krelian
Actually mario excitebike does work on emus yakumo, problem is is the game stall for a long time, i guess its trying to download of the sever or something like that. Anyway just set the frame skip to the highest you can and eventually the game will start.
Hell hath frozen over God I wish! No I just have a ROM like everyone else... What I was saying is that if SuperFunkNinjas scheme to flash SataView games onto stand-alone cart worked, I'd love to make a Radical Dreamers cart. ~Krelian P.S.: While I was at it, I'd probably make an F-Zero 2 and even CT Jet Bike just for the hell of it. =)
Don't want this thread to turn into a dodgy ''what to do with a donor SNES cart, Eeprom burner and r0mZ'' thread.... But I've been seriously looking into this business of building custom SNES carts. StarFox 2 is an absoulute must. But what about translated RPGs? This site lists most/all SNES RPG translation projects (and other consoles). http://www.rpgclassics.com/trans/snestrans.shtml Now to be able to play a 100% English translated version of Seiken Densetsu 3 or Star Ocean, on a proper SNES :smt023 Just I hate emulators. Yeah, some are good and all that, but I'd rather mess around burning Eeproms and making my own cart than sit in front of a PC to play the game. I wanna use a proper SNES and pad. Although SF2 will require a S-FX2 cart, most of the RPGs seem to only use standard carts. Excellent, best go find a load of Mario Worlds for £2 each.... Let the research continue..... :smt024
I don't think you understand how it works. Mario World is not an adequate cartridge. The SNES has an 8-bit cartridge bus, mask ROMs are 512K x 8-bit up to 32M x 8. Mario world does not have the proper hardware inside to bankswitch because the entire ROM can be seen. First of all, you must buy cartridges of the exact same specification e.g. Hirom/LoRom, same SRAM specs, MAD-1 decoder or not. Many newer games have SOP packaged ROMs. This makes things a little more complicated too because DIP EPROMs are standard. So far, I've obtained (ehrm) all the complete DeJap translations on cart with the exception of Star Ocean which is a nightmare to buy. I've got an almost completed Star Fox 2 "final" which needs to be swapped over to another PCB... I've got plans for: Final Fantasy V Live a Live Rudora no Hihou Shin Megami Tensei Shin Megami Tensei II Star Ocean Tales of Phantasia Treasure Hunter G Thanks all for the Radical Dreamers and Fzero 2 ideas, will make sure I do those BS Excitebike is very possible, too bad its such a short game.
Hmmmm... Kyuusaku, would you be interested in doing a few cart dumps if arrangements were made to provide you with the necessary "host" carts as well as shipping money and fair garner of profit? ~Krelian
yes, mario exitbike work ,for years , the first time i played it (on emu) it was 5 or 6 years ago. i have plans for those too :smt033 , and other ones. ff2 , ff3 ,earthbound, mario 2 (j) ,.... :smt040
Yeah, i understand what you mean now. Bit more reading here... http://snesdev.romhack.de/game_select.htm Trying to find a complete list of cart types (hirom/lorom/superfx/sa1/ssd1) so I know what to use as donor carts. There are some examples of what to use on the site, but a big list would be nice. Also that guy is selling compatable eproms too. And some of you guys have purchased these carts? Hmmm, wonder where I can get a StarFox2? :smt023 EDIT: Hmm, thinking this info could be damn useful too - http://nintendoallstars.w.interia.pl/romlab/sneslab.htm
