My TV doesn't have an Automatic 4:3 adjustment, it has a slider to adjust the picture manually that's a real pain. If it detects a signal that's 4:3 it displays it. Furthermore if a USB stick is int he USB Drive in the back it'll display video at whatever resolution it's native in. It has 4 inputs, 3 HDMI, 1 component. So PS2/XBOX/Gamecube I'm good. The TV will take those. It's S-Video I need to get into the TV and it seems every converter that isn't a framemister or DVDO doesn't do 4:3 or if it does, it for some reason doesn't do sound from HDMI. I'm in a bidding war right now for a VP30 I'm looking for alternatives in case I don't get it. There's a nice Pioneer scaler but it's a European item Sure I can get that and hook it up but how am I going to plug it in to the wall? NES I'm set I have an order placed for the next wave of Retro USB AVS's So I'll have my 4:3 I can add scanlines all that. But everything else Saturn, Dreamcast, N64, SFC/SNES, Megasis I need something else. Speaking of the Mega drive. If I got a PAL mega drive and said Pioneer scaler, how would NTSC games run on it? It's quite tempting.
Does the Pioneer scaler have SCART? If so, then you could connect almost any Genesis/MD system to that. If it's made for European power systems, then you'll need a power converter. I doubt that'd be worth it.
It's this beauty. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pioneer-PDA...%3A0677e5f915d0a861ccbfc6d5fffbee5f%7Ciid%3A1
Cheaper is always last gen, so Ps3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Except some obscure collector's edition of course.
Here's a hard question.... With Saturn prices so high would it actually be cheaper to physically fly to Japan and Raid a Hard off?
wild woody used to be dirt cheap check ebay prices now btw its not that good of a game anyway used to go for 20-30 bucks
Based on Hard off videos it seems the price hikes on the Saturn/mega cd are an internet thing. Can't speak for Super Potato. Figures the lone Sega CD game I have is only about $25
The classic Xbox has some good prices for pretty good games really, very cheap to collect for it and you are getting great quality games in return. If you're a collector just starting out that would be a great starting point imo.
I can't speak for Mega CD (No interest), but what's so bad about Japan Saturn prices? They're not dirt cheap, but there's tons of good stuff out there for a reasonable rate. Yeah, if you want a collection full of vertical shooters on the cheap, too bad, but there's tons of great stuff to be had for under $20. Try http://www.japangamestock.com/ I've dealt with them in the past. They have a selection of hundreds of Japan Saturn games. I don't know the state of your collection, but damn, there's a ton of awesome games for $5 or less. Shit, I just wasted some time by putting together a list of things that would be fun (if I didn't have most of them). Lotta fun to be had here:
I have a few shooters for the Saturn one has a bad case of disc rot and needs to be replaced (Salamander pack) I'm also heavily considering getting a Japanese PS1 mostly to get that version of DoDonPachi before it catches up with the rapidly rising Saturn version (Which I have) and maybe to replace Salamander for a little less.
