    Well, fuck...

I fucking hate Apple and all the shit they make, and their fanboys are fucking horrible to deal with.

But still, it'll be sad if he dies, as it really sucks when almost anyone does. I most certainly am not glad at all.

Like him or not, he's pretty influential too.

He has pancreatic cancer. That almost always means death in less than 2 years after diagnosis.

In any case, at least he's fortunate enough to have money, which bought him some more time for sure.

Even if Apple stuff costs a lot, even if Fanboys are mad, even if some of you hates him, I don't think he deserves to be hated.
    I hope that's not true.

I agree, take away his success and job title and he's just a man with a family and feelings.

Totally agree, he may seem like Evil Mr Jobs to you or his employees but to someone he's their Father, Their brother, Their friend, Their neighbough... I'm not glad to see anyone die, espically not Steve Jobs. I'm not an apple fan boy but what he's done to the world of technology is ground breaking from day 1. I doubt we'd all be using MP3 players now if it wasn't for the iPod.

There were portable music players before the iPod, you know...

I think what he was trying to say was Apple made the MP3 player popular. There were many devices before, but *that* was the device that offered the balance of simplicity and convienience that every previous player lacked.

Even Sony ballsed up MP3 players by using bizarre codecs and irritatingly slow and complicated systems to use them. Don't get me wrong: iTunes is not a power user's piece of software (especially on the PC, where it lacks scripting support). However, I have encountered very few people (who didn't hold an Apple grudge) who find iTunes hard to use.

Sony's ridiculous ATRAC-only portable was a joke, sure, and their software is near-universally terrible, but that's just one company. Without Apple there'd still be a fuckton of portable MP3 players. There's nothing particularly special about an iPod, it was just the right place and time.

IPod is the PlayStation of music players. Actually, iPod or at least the touch have awful sound quality. My creative labs MP3 player blows it away for quality. Apple must be given credit for the interface though. As for the Sony MP3 issue, well that's Sony isn't it. Always fucking stuff up witb their own connections, codecs and so on.

I believe even without iPod, MP3 players would have become the norm. iPod just sped up the process.

I have owned many Ipods, and the touch and classic definitely have different audio jacks then what was used on older models, and it sounds awful as you say. I returned my classic due to how shitty it sound, and have met other people with classics that don't notice the horrible sound. I think its cuz they are just so in love with it that they look past everything, honestly.

And if anyone thinks MP3 players wouldn't be around/popular without the Ipod, you're stupid.
