I doubt that, the money hes making is probably enough for him to not have to work at all. If hes actually in Kazakhstan as people are saying above - the average monthly wage there is about $350. This probably explains his attitude - if where he lives is correct, hes probably living it up - people want his product, he can make a few when ever he needs some money.
He's definitely Kazakhstan based. I remember when I had to wire him the money, the address of the bank he wanted the money sent to was really odd. Turns out their streets are arranged and named in a military fashion. Probably a hang over from the Soviet Union days. Didn't realise how little they earn though. To be honest, I didn't even know Kazakhstan existed until Borat came along.
I went to Macedonia last year, the £200 expenses I had for the week was more than the guy I was working for earned a month.
Still pretty short-sighted, though - the only reason he can get away with it is that the only other option also suffers from spotty supply. If anyone produced another DC GD-ROM emulation option that you could actually buy on a regular basis (especially if it had a more sensible price) then he would find the market going away very quickly.
AFAIK there's MNEMO's USB option. There's Deunan's DDEMU SD option. And evetually there will be the DCIO.
The only other option that's readily available is the Serial SD adapter (someone here sells them actually) but that's not as fast, because it uses the Serial port instead of the GD-Rom drive.
Just read 'bout all that story. Well, glad i chose GDEMU of Deunan I tried to contact Mnemo first, but damn, it was so difficult... no replye, no care... Deunan's product is somehow hard to get too, as there are few available; but Deunan himself is way more easy to contact. 'bought him 2 devices, and 2 prototypes. Never had any problem.
Yeah, the other option is GDEMU - but that's another product that seems to be only available if the developer feels like it. Sure, it seems to be more available than the USB-GDROM is, but it's still not like you could just buy one any time you wanted. DCIO might have better supply, but it's not available yet.
