Strange XBOX

This may be old news to some, but I have never seen it before so don't gripe Any way, some more info on this would be nice. If you know anything about it, please tell.

now I wonder why there're no LE xbox for Asian market?
haven't seen any in Korea nor heard in HK...

 

It does look sort of amateur-ish. One thing's for sure, I won't be going out of my way to acquire one those.

I don't know, most videogame related stuff from China should have its legitimacy taken with a grain of salt.
That said, it's not THAT ugly - I sort of like the colour scheme. Even if the EA logo makes me afraid of being bought and raped.

The Xbox has a Dolby Digital encoder on it, not a DTS encoder. The PS2 has neither.

Every game on the Xbox can output in DD. On the PS2 you'll see Pro Logic instead.

Both systems can output prerecorded DD or DTS. There is some software trickery you can do on the PS2 to fake a real time DTS stream (by pre-recording a bunch of DTS encoded clips and then playing them back at the right moment) but it is software intensive and takes a number of CPU cycles so very few games have used it.

I guess the real question is, the Xbox is the only console capable of doing real time 5.1 surround sound, so what are you complaining about? DTS is no better than DD so it's not a bit deal that it doesn't do real time DTS encoding.

doubt its fake... plus MS have done a white xbox before so tis a mater of adding some printing and the jewels...

The decoding is done by your Dolby Digital stereo system. Not the Xbox.
