Hit Harbor Freight for a $7 digital Multi-meter and test the back of the Serial Connector with some proper equipment.

The other mod I have in here is a VGA mod with the audio and switch and that works just fine. I made the board for that as well.

Seems like you have a short and it's easy to have a short on those serial pins they are a small pitch 0.5mm so getting a cheap multi-meter should help diagnose what is bridged or just remove the wires and use desoldering braid to clean it up and try again.

I have used the braid already. And I lifted the sd10+sd9 serial pins and tested with just one wire on sd10. all pins 1-10 still make it light up. I'll get the multimeter. But if that doesn't come up with anything I think I'll grab a new dreamcast.

If DC's are cheap maybe get a dirty one and swap boards?

Yeah I'm looking for a rev1 board. A thrift in the city had one. May pick that up if its still there.
