Mine came last week I can tell you that the beta save data works on the final game and the other way around. There are many differences too! I'm planning on doing a YouTube beta vs final video.
My LE came in today. This game has no business being as good as it is. If this had come out during the Dreamcast's natural life then it would have been hailed as one of the most impressive shooters at the time (well, it needs a LITTLE bit more polish: hit detection seems weird, explosions are OK though the lack of a ship explosion animation is bizarre, the ship icon for the lives is weak sauce). But I would say this game has a more legitimate claim to being Thunder Force VI than... well... Thunder Force VI. Hell, this game is more Thunder Force than TFV for that matter. Very very good game, and extremely impressive considering it's not a major release with a major game company behind it. You can tell that Duranik has a passion for the genre and is a very creative team.
Yay! I'm #1 in the world for Normal Mode on Normal difficulty. http://duranik.com/sturmwind.php?mode=0&showdifficulty=1 Couple of stupid mistakes, so I doubt I will be for long. But for now I'm going to go knock out a good Arcade Mode run, give those guys a run for their money. :boxing: (I already 1CC'd Arcade mode this morning, now that I've 1CC'd Normal Mode though I'm ready to rip Arcade Mode a new one).
Why ? Why why ? The Sturmwind game is limited, for not use the original CD... Against children by example. Or for the simple pleasure of hack.
Sturmwind is not limited. As long as it is produced and sold, I recommend buying it from PlayAsia and support the indie-scene by doing so.
Unfortunately, scoring is broken in this game. There are a handful of places where you can milk enemies indefinitely with minimal skill (a good place is the Level 2/2.1 boss since you can have 11 stars there)... so a high score in this is absolutely meaningless (or at least, will be as more people figure this out, I'm fairly certain the HS for Arcade mode is a product of extensive milking). Damn shame...
Has anyone unlocked the trophy for getting to the 4.2 boss without killing an enemy? I've done this on Easy, Normal, and Hard, and the trophy won't unlock. I'm starting to think it's broken.
Hi, Here my french review : http://dreamcast-news.blogspot.com/2013/06/review-de-sturmwind-re-et-un-peu-plus.html
made it as far as #3 on normal mode, seems someone pushed me to #5 now...when I have time I'll be coming to get you jp. as for the few flaws...I've yet to play a bugless game so considering this was programmed by 1 guy I still think its an incredible achievement
Tested with - DCsdrip1.1 : incompatibilty with CD Rom - BBA + httpd-ack-20080711 : break at 220 Mo / 245 Mo - Coder Cable + Dreamrip : incompatibilty with CD Rom - ImgBurn : break at 98% - Alcohol 120% : multiple "Read disc error"
The game uses some sort of copyright protection that nobody's been able to crack yet. They should release this game digitally as well for those of us whose Dreamcasts got retired.
