I tried the unpatched and patched roms on ZNES and they both work perfect. But ZNES played it before it was patched with no problems anyway, so I don't quite understand what you mean. If it played before on the ZSNES emulator without the patch properly, then plays again with the patch, that doesn't tell us anything. Give me a few days, I'll try it on BSNES, been a little busy. Thanks for the help.
On the contrary -- it suggests that the patch is probably working properly, because I think a malformed IPS patch would likely corrupt the ROM and make it unbootable even in an emulator, or would at least elicit some obviously incorrect behavior. That's been my experience in the past, anyway, but maybe I'm wrong.
Right I understand but if you look at ZSNES changelog, as they've updated the program over the years. They make specific mention of that Super Bases Loaded II giving them a problem. But through changes/updates they've fixed the problem. So essentially, it seems, like running the unpatched rom through ZSNES is sort of like patching it on the fly via the program. It also seems like running the patched rom through ZSNES causes no ill effects, as well. Basically the latest version of ZSNES for this game does the opposite of the Everdrive, the ZSNES emulator hasn't met a Super Bases Loaded II rom it doesn't like. While the everdrive flash cart hasn't met a Super Bases Loaded 2 rom its likes. Heck if I know why, still haven't tried BSNES emulator, but I will very soon. Ok, Thanks
My guess at this point is that it's an EverDrive problem, not a ROM problem, but that's total speculation on my part. I don't know whether ZSNES includes as many hacks and workarounds as it once did, but it wouldn't surprise me if it still uses a trick to make SBL2 work. The nice thing about BSNES is that it's free of all that stuff. I remember once getting insanely confusing results when I was hacking a NES ROM, only to discover that the emulator I was using had a game-specific hack to make that ROM work properly, and by disrupting the checksum I was disabling the hack. I look forward to hearing what happens with further testing. If the patched ROM works perfectly in BSNES, I'd PM Krikzz if you haven't already.
I'm sorry for rescuing this old post but I have the same problem as mayhem13 with same firmware 5 and OS v12; can't run "Super Bases Loaded 2". But there is something that make me curious: I've recently purchased the DSP1 version of Super Everdrive and I'm running Pilotwings Lo-ROM without problems and without changing the mapping in "rom settings". I'm talking of this ROM: ---------------------Internal ROM Info---------------------- File: PILOTWINGS [E!DSP1 Name: PILOTWINGS Company: Nintendo Header: None Bank: LoROM Interleaved: None SRAM: 0 Kb Type: DSP-1 ROM: 4 Mb Country: Euro/Asia/Oceania Video: PAL ROM Speed: 200ns (SlowROM) Revision: 1.0 Checksum: Good 0xE30C Game Code: ---------------------------Hashes--------------------------- CRC32: DEF45776 --------------------------Database-------------------------- Name: Pilotwings Country: Europe Revision: 1.0 Port 1: Gamepad Port 2: Gamepad Genre 1: Simulation Genre 2: Flight So I'm not using [a1] or [f1] versions at all... I'm really confused. Was done any kind of fix for this game in the Super Everdrive after these post? If it was it may be possible to make "Super Bases Loaded 2" playable in a future revision/update.
