Sell the console, you're not worthy.

You do realise you come across as an annoying child in most of your posts? Which is probably why you were banned for a few days.

    Food for thought.

Well, lets try it this way:

    1) Pick up your RGB cable, it should look similar to this cable:

    2) Locate the end that plugs into the Super Famicom's Multi Out Connector.

    3) It will look like this:
If it doesn't look like the image above try out another RGB cable.

    4) You see 4 tabs holding the two halves of the connectors plastic shell together. Use a couple screwdrivers to carefully wedge it open.
It will look like this now:

    5) Locate a part called resistor. It will have metal legs and look somewhat like this:

    6) Get a pair of small scissors
    [IMG]

    7) Use the scissors to cut the metal leg of the resistor where the red circle is in the next picture
    [IMG]
Again your cable will have more wires than in this picture but the resistor will be at the same spot.

    8) ???

    9) You just killed your Super Famicom

Let's make it simpler: You need an NTSC version scart cable.

If built for the PAL SNES it won't work right.

Just to clarify, it's a Jap version of SMW2: Yoshi *Island* (my mistake) that when I try it on my SuperCIC'd PAL SNES I have trouble whatever video mode I've tried, but then again I'm no expert when it comes to PAL/NTSC/PAL60 etc. I've only tried on 2 different TVs but they both behaved the same.

Interestingly enough, it has trouble playing Starfox as well (glitchy gfx fault, different than YIs flickering) which I originally put down to a faulty cart, but then I bought another and it behaved exactly the same.

EDIT: Also my el cheapo cable doesn't have the little clips, so I can't really open it up to check for a resistor without destroying the headshell :-(

I think Google is your friend on this one.
You can also try eBay, all retro shops, ask in the market place, etc.

Sorry for initiating war on how to troubleshoot. It's just a habit when fault finding to narrow it down before taking the stuff apart.
But now sanni saved the day and everything is happy again!

@Sonnyjim - The supply on handmade cables have drastically gone down this last year. Both shops I've recommended in the past have had troubles sourcing components. I'm in early planning to score the connectors needed directly from China and will offer high quality rgb scart cables sometime in september.
But these two I've worked with before:

http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/ <--- this guy built good cables in the past but have been sold out since early march

http://tinyurl.com/kostu49 <--- Adapter_man on ebay, seems to have 4 in stock right now. I have used and sold several of his cables. Good stuff.
Send him a mail with what you need and he'll probably sort you out.
