    I'm looking for a way to play SNES games on my Super famicom? Anybody know of good converters? Maybe one that will not cause possible damage to my Super Famicom? I heard from Rene from Retro Round Table that the Famicom Carts have a "security lockout chip" but the Honey Bee converter he demonstrates can cause damage in the long run to your console due to the method used in that converter. Is this the case for SNES or Super Famicom when using a converter?

    What I meant was the ability to play US SNES games on a Japanese Super Famicom.
    Thanks

    I recently received my boards. When I get time around December I'm probably going to sell off the excess assembled without shell. I'll have to get permission from micro since I will be selling them for a dollar more than parts since I am soldering them.

    Yeah I have mate, it works fine but it maybe cheaper to buy a action replay/gameshark (with the additional connection for super fx). Either that or modify your cart slot so it accepts the square usa carts.

    Don't get a game genie...they don't support superfx.

    in the image you see the bottom cartridge has the additional edge connector.....these are used in typicaly superfx games or Sa1 enhanced games like Mario Rpg.

    some converters and action replays only support normal games like the top cartridge.

    this one here supports the additional connectors:

    also the adapter from goldenshop.com supports the additional comnectors.

    hope this clears things up for you.

    @bigman1106
    Thanks for the clarification!
    I guess there is more benefit using Pro Action Replay. Would it allow me to play PAL games on a japanese Super Famicom?
    One thing I noticed about the Pro Action Replay is that it was only available in Europe? Does that mean it can have issues with an US Snes or Japanase Super Famicom? I'm still learning about the cart differences etc.

    Thanks

    A action replay from any region should work in any region console as it relies on the lock out chip from the cart that's plugged into it.

    Not really, they are just used for playing snes games on an sfc without cutting the case.

    Oh the I see, I was confused by the question mark. I still have 8 more boards from the print, they are not assembled and world require you to buy a slot from aliexpress plus the cart shell. I might sell them off when I get a chance, but my time is kind of non-existent and I have qualms about selling a pcb and expecting the buyer to build it. Also I need permission from micro since it is his design even though I won't be doing another run. If I get everything sorted out and all you want is the pcb, I'll sell it to you for what I paid for it plus shipping. So like 7 bucks plus shipping.

    Sure, let me know when you figure it out, and let me know what I would need to buy. No rush :)
