Well enough OT, back to galaxy: theres some jackass posting gameplay videos at youtube if anyone wants to see them. Apart from the retarded comments he makes, the game truly looks like the successor to Mario64. On the other hand, and I dont want to jump into conclusions since I havent played the game, but honestly it looks like a ripoff of that SA2 treasure hunt level, the one at the Ark with all the weird "planets" you had to explore to find the emerald shards.
If it can supply me the same fun feeling M64 had, I'm game, if I can find a Wii. If it has the treasure hunting levels like SA2........GROSS.
Nah dude, I meant the way it seems to work on a basic level (like the way the character moves in the enviroment) is way too similar to the area with the "planets" in the SA2 rouge level Mad Space. Go check it out.
This game is fucking great, serious! Awesome graphics, uber gameplay and spot-on controls. What could u ask more? My #1 game for Wii for sure
I have it since Saturday. Could only play 2 hours so far but I am so impressed. I took me maybe 30 seconds to get used to the controls and then running around the first planet... Just wow! What's most impressive about it, is that it presents all these new ideas with such a confidence and easiness. Everything feels to be in the right place. Sorry for being abstract but just give it a go and see. The assist play thing where controls (moving around) and actions (jumping, collecting crystals) is split between two players is just great to get people who usually don't play games (like my girlfriend) to join in.
Just finished the game and I am at 90/120 stars. The game's amazing. Not a single dull moment. And the weirdest bit? I played through the whole game with a friend. He contributed with the IR pointing capabilities of the second player and made my life a tad easier at parts - a life or death difference many times. Very polished Very complete Very engaging Very amusing After Mario 64 I thought I d never fall in love again with a platformer to this degree - I had my afairs with a few RAREWARE games during the N64 and Chibi Robo seemed to charm me, but I m happy to announce that Galaxy is the King of platformers. Barring nostalgia, this is the best 3D platforming game I ve ever played. In terms of quality , right up there with Mario Bros 3. PS: Mario Bros 3 cant be beat because of so many different levels and designs of course but then again it's comparing peaches to oranges.
btw, it is technically possible for nintendo to extend the game through downloadable content but I m sure they wont. They can make players download relatively small files ( approx 5MB per level) and use assets from the gamedisc. Levels can also be stored in compressed form further making them KB-range downloads.
well if you have any experience with 3d apps like 3ds max for example, you ll see that scene files are quite small. It's the assets that take up solid memory space. Hence, when you ve got your vectors defining a level in place (the downloadable file) and use existing assets from the gamedisc, you can create new levels. Of course, each level must contain a script for goals etc.
