Super potato is so expensive

Maybe I'm just not a "collector", but I really can't understand why anyone would pay much more money for a crippled freebie version than the real game ...

 

It's much more rare, and it's part of PC-Engine history. It's not supposed to be the best version of the game, instead it's something... special. A special version of a much beloved game

Being a PC-Engine collector, I feel exactly the same way. I wouldn't spend an exponential amount of money on something that's little more than a show-piece. But that's just my opinion. I totally understand why some people would do it, but I don't necessarily agree with them. (^_^);

 

The Special Version is clearly a collector's item and with any rare collector's item, what's the point of weighing it up against its gameplay value? If you don't want to pay money to own a rare item of (game-)historic relevance, then you are clearly not the market for such a game. Thankfully, there is a much cheaper standard version so everyone can enjoy Bomberman 93 and the hardcore collectors can dump a bunch of money to own something more special than the regular bestseller.

 

Maybe I'm just annoyed because I used to have that card and gave it away because it seemed completely worthless

 

Wow, I guess that's kind of a kick in the head ain't it?

 

Well, I have other versions of Bomberman - and I still wonder who ever thought that making a multi-player only version of Bomberman with no COM opponents for a console that only has one controller port was a sensible idea

 

I believe it was a giveaway version from the Hudson fan club (like Sega Partners magazine) to promote the release, it was not supposed to replace the full version in any way.

 

If any store gets popular with tourist then it's a ripoff.

I agree, book offoand hard off are quite reasonable.

 

Super Potato is a tourist attraction for the gaijin. I don't think that Japanese retro gamers buy things there.

Or maybe they were Korean, Chinese or Filipino? Seriously though, there are many Japanese with deep pockets who shop there. In the two years i lived in Tokyo I never bbough anything from super potato.

 

but that's a big chain, Super Potato is only in two places I think, so they stigmatized as a tourist attraction, which means that they gonna be a rip off for the fooly tourists.

 

super potato is more than in two places, they also have a store in nagoya and three in osaka. The one in akiba isn't a tourist attraction per se, it's just that the whole akiba as the electric city is sorta slowing down.

 

From what I've seen in videos the Nagoya location is the best one
