I HATE the eShop. Compared to PSN which is well Curated and it's easy to find something new, the eShop you kind of have to know what you're looking for. There are search functions yeah but just browsing looking for stuff is cumbersome. So I figured since we have a bunch of new Switch owners we'd share some goodies we've found. I'll start off by recommending Floor Kids, it's a hand drawn breakdance simulator with music by Kid Koala. Easy to learn, Hard to master kind of complicated but not really. Next to Mario Odyssey it's probably my favorite Switch game right now. Not many people seem to be talking about it but it's one of the best games I've played all year and I've played some good games.
I have a feeling when they do the big update to accommodate the Virtual Console they will probably update it. The system they had now was fine for the first few months of the console since there wasn't a whole lot in there. With all the releases out there now it has kind of turned into a mess. Speaking of a mess I didn't know about floor kids, I'll check it out
I've heard about Floor Kids, it's definitely something very unique. My first Nintendo eShop game for Switch was Shovel Knight Treasure Trove. Three full games for $25? Sign me up!
I have Shovel Knight on PS4, but if they do a physical release of Treasure Trove I'm on it. The other under the radar Switch eShop game I picked up was Golf Story, I haven't played a ton of it but I heard good things. It's not quite as simple as Neo Turf Masters. The Neo Geo Selection on Switch is way more different from what's on PS4 I'm surprised. KOF98 isn't on PSN Yet. While PSN has Samurai Shodown II which isn't on the Switch (But 1 and 4 are)
Sine Mora Also, while theres no option to just browse the store, you can do it. I am not near my switch now, but I think you click on one of the sections on the left, then cancel or clear the search results. This lets you filter by genre or browse everything.
Sine More EX actually has a physical release and I'm all over that. Gotta Support the Shmups. Gunbird should be on the US eShop shortly. I'll be picking up Strikers 1945 (ALSO on the eShop) The Tate mode potential on the Switch is crazy. I have figured out how to just browse but it's not the most straight forward process, or not as straight forward as it is on PSN.
I'm the exact opposite. My physical games I got with it annoy the crap out of me. Having to get up to change games sucks. First World problems and all that. Future purchases will be all digital. I got: Mario odyssey (physical) Mario kart (physical) Bomberman (physical) Splatoon 2 (physical) Zelda (physical) Puyo puyo tetris (digital) Sine mora (digital) I'm loving Zelda, son is playing odyssey. I will probably convert Bomberman and Mario kart to digital (trade in physical and buy from eshop) as those are games I'll likely play forever. Zelda and Mario I won't bother, as imagine once done with them, I probably won't play again.
I like having a collection. It's funny how tons of people are going all digital with the Switch, but are going to end up spending a fortune on MicroSD Cards in the process. I have a 128 GB which should last me a few years if I choose wisely. a 400 GB MicroSD Card will run you the cost of the system itself. I am really enjoying my Switch I KNOW some long time members are going to go into shock knowing I actually love a Nintendo product. But it's not going to replace my PS4 either. Switch is gathering dust once Yakuza 6 is out. Moving on any other gems to keep an eye out for? I saw some game that teaches Hiragana.
One of the sections on the left (I think it's the recent list) scroll to the bottom, and hit the more button (or however they describe it). This will bring you to the entire eShop list. This is where the problem lies, they need categories. Right now it's just one big ass list. I really liked Blaster Master Zero. Definitely a must if you enjoyed the original Blaster Master
You can search by Genre but how they display is still a mess. If I went on the eShop blind not knowing what I want I'd be totally lost. Then there's that whole sales tax thing. I live in a state that does not require digital sales tax yet the eShop collects anyway
I was thinking kind of like the 3DS eShop where they had different categories on the main menu that highlighted random games for different reasons. Kinda like what they sometimes put in the Switch News app actually. What the hell, how are they allowed to collect tax if your state doesn't charge it? You think that'd be illegal or something.
I'm pretty sure it is. Nintendo themselves have a non answer on their website. PSN doesn't charge me Sales Tax, they do in several other states though.
Wow.... im surprised more people havent mentioned Blaster Master Zero yet. Cheap as heck and legit one of the best games on the console. I may be biased, as im an avid speedrunner of the game, but seriously.... such a solid game for only 10 dollars.
Blaster Master Zero, Wonderboy. The Eshop is a mess, I'm still astonished that they do not use the touchscreen in a better way for its interface. Sure, it would not help when playing with the dock but they could adjust when they detect that the machine is used in portable mode.
It is an all new, original title, that draws heavy influence from the classic game on NES. The first area is very similar to the first area in the NES game, and after that everything changes drastically. Theres all kinds of new abilities, bosses, enemies, weapons, etc. Again, i cannot recommend the game enough. If you even remotely enjoyed the original, you'll enjoy this one as well, and if you've never played the original its still worth a shot!
I agree. I never palyed the original and this title was my first eshop purchase, I do not regret it. Unfortunately I never completed it, the final boss (I think it is) is really a boss compared to the others. Ultimately, by the time I reached that point I had other games on the switch to play. Still, Blaster Master Zero is a great game and only available on the Switch.
Yeah, i remember really struggling with the final boss on my first playthrough. BM Zero is also available on 3DS, in addition to Switch, btw .
I bought KOF 98 as a Dpad litmus test and I saw nothing wrong with the Pro Controller D-pad. I was able to do everything with few problems, Even that triple QCB P thing Iori does. I still need to pick up Blaster Master Zero. The original was the first NES Cart I picked up for my redemption collection. I highly reccomend Mighty Gunvolt Burst. It's what Mighty no 9 SHOULD HAVE been.
