Go into settings, then controllers, then test buttons. Press left and right on the dpad a lot. Also try holding the left or right a bit and wiggle like you may do by accident. Notice all the incorrect up and down presses (which ruins tetris, as it causes blocks to randomly instant drop) Video here of someone on youtube: But I found you didnt even need to wiggle it, just quick presses (like you would in tetris) would result in plenty of ups and downs. Doing the fix makes it so much better.
Me too I know the Xenoblade controller had a new D-pad. I did all the D-pad tests on my pro a standard one, did everything I Intended it to. Maybe new ones have the Pivot too.
Since we were discussing it earlier in the thread, anyone interested in Blaster Master Zero that also enjoys speedruns should check out the GDQ marathon on Sunday evening, as I'll be running Blaster Master Zero as part of the AGDQ marathon! To watch this run, and a bunch of other really good runs as well, check out twitch.tv.gamesdonequick all throughout the week! my run specifically is at 9:30 pm EST, Sunday Jan 7th. Also, side note: BM Zero is currently 30% off on both the Switch and 3DS eShops.
I have a xeno blade controller on the way to test this too. The theory is the new pads will have the new dpad too, but it's just going to depend on how long things are in the retail pipeline before you can be certain it's the improved one. The fix works really well, not that you should have to open up a £60 controller to fix it.
aside from jumping when I wanted to do something else in KOF I haven't had many issues. I played a round of the Puyo Puyo Tetris demo last night too to see if it messed up at all and I played a pretty good game. But I'm considering getting an 8Bitdo controller none the less. If anything to play Street Fighter with using my SNES configuration.
Honestly I never would have known there was an issue with the Pro controller D Pad. Seems to work fine for all the games I play. I'll probably still do the fix when I get bored sometime, just cause.
1 round isn't enough, when you get random hard drops and it costs you the game, you will do the fix. I have an 8bitdo too and the pokken controller as well. If you get the 8bitdo, you will need to upgrade the firmware as there's a lot of input lag. Firmware update sorts it though.
The Project Octopath Traveler demo is definitely worth checking out. It's about 5 hours long. I'm no sports fan, but I enjoyed Golf Story very much. Wasn't too much golf, and had a great storyline to it. Also, The Flame in the Flood is a great port. I like it better on the Switch than i did on PC.
