tripods are a must. i can't help but chuckle when i see people trying to take pictures at night or in low light and they don't know why they're blurry. then they use the flash and it looks straight up awful.
if you don't have a tripod and you're trying to take a picture in lowlight or at night, one thing i always try and do is find something to set my camera on. then set the self-timer on like 2 or 10 seconds and let the camera take a picture without you trying to hold it completely still. which is pretty much impossible. In this picture I just set the camera on the ledge and let it do all the work. You can see the snow in the foreground. The flash is off (the picture would not turn out it if it was on). Again down near the bottom you can see I set the camera down. It's just a good little trick to use when you're not carrying a tripod around.
I always thought it was common sense that if you wanted to take a picture with no flash you'd need the slow lens on with the use of a tripod or flat surface. Good hint on the use of the timer though. I found that even with a tripod you can still move the camera (Not noticeable to the person taking the shot) a little which will affect the image. Yakumo
well, with everyone just using little digital cameras these days most people don't even switch their photo settings from "Auto". i know a lot of people don't even know how a camera works. i can't really adjust the shutter speed on my little camera so this is about as good as it gets for me. there's a lot more i want to do photography-wise but i need an SLR. and i buy too many video games to afford a nice camera. xD
Is this what you used to take photo's of that new pirate GBA of yours? Those looked pretty good :icon_bigg What an amazing shot! Makes Seattle look like it's straight out of Blade Runner! -ud
