I respect that, but I had an idea of what does a chip do to your system, what can it do, also consequences of it, if we only show homebrew apps for it.
Modding is part of gaming. It's o.k. to discuss the history of piracy. But give no directions how to. For example game copiers are a colorful part of gaming history. Just don't tell people where to get roms is all.
Oh I think a FAQ on N64dd Dev would be very helpful It's really difficult to find information! It was worth a shot haha Seriously though. I think the first FAQs should be about topics that you can't find info about elsewhere.
Well i was thinking about teling the differences between current modchips and what you can do with them. Then, i would talk about the homebrew appz like HDLoader, uLaunchElf, myPS2,... And finally talk how you can really improve the PS2 by adding a HDD to it. Anyway, i don't support piracy. But i also don't condemn who support it. Criticizing someone that buys a piracy product, when the original product costs 80% or more of their salary isn't fair. It becomes even more unfair, when the official company doesn't give a f*** about releasing their official product on our territory.
I think we could do a mini-faq for all commonly talked about unreleased games, and then where possible larger FAQ's for individual games. Possible titles to be written about, including their origins if released, developer, publisher etc. Starfox 2 Propellor Arena Flintstones Viva Rock Vegas Sonic X-treme RE 1.5 Sonic Crackers Sure there are a lot more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head
Thats not really necessary is it? There are many modding sites where that info can be found out, and it doesnt really fit in with Rare and Obscure does it?
first of all thanx to all of the people who posted with suggestions let me answer to some of the things proposed. THAT WOULD ROCK! we'll see as soon as we'll start with this... this is a very interesting topic that we could merge with the modchip one... obviously we'll have to avoid naming modchips, giving urls and such... we just have to show what can be done beside piracy Really interesting suggestion! this one too could be a good starting point That would be great, but the point is to write them all togheter for having a less personal point of wiev for saying so, obviously we would have to create a topic for that, all people could contribute, all the people that contribute would get their "glory" and it would be really easier that making a FAQ alone. But that is just my point of view... try to take a peek at my snes cdrom faq for having an idea of what i mean. thanx people for all the interest around this!
just tell us unharmful things. those faqs will be useful even without becaming uber-technical, for saying so... they'll provide a fast easy way to give people info, and after that they still have the chance to browse deeper in the forum or the net for more "dangerous" or technical things like devkits video pinouts or such... i guess that 99% of people are just interested in the features way of working, design and such of those machine than having the names of all the chips inside and secret infos about internal codes, bios and such... to make it short, thanks for your support, don't say anything you might consider dangerous as you said. I'm sure you'll be of great help in a lot of cases. Karsten

I could donate the 1.5 info  Just lemme know what kinda format you need it in and I can get started Karsten
Would you be up for doing both a mini "commonly spoken about games"games part (I'm thinking about 2 paragraphs covering the essentials) and then a larger RE:1.5 FAQ? I was going to mention that a few other RE FAQs could be done too, since it is one of the most commonly spoken about series with regard to betas

Mark, thats pretty much exactly as I thought it should be. perhaps with each category having an FAQ, and then each sub category also having an FAQ, each getting more and more detailed So SDK FAQs starts just describing what one is, where it is used and what for, and then each subcategory goes into more and more detail
Not trying to take all of the credit here, but I think we need to decide on a main layout first to see how the FAQs should be setup. Then, people could also post it with their addition(s). Still, let's see if more people have suggestions on different layouts.
Mark looks good to me Steadster sure Id be willing to do that Bankrupt Company FAQs Very interested in reading that one when/if it goes up :icon_bigg
Damnit, ah well. Modding's something we could all use, but coding is for the truly experienced. And once they make something... It's an achievement. Well, I agree with attracting the wrong people by posting up modding. Call me naive if you will, but even posting info regarding region modification etc is grounds for a company to come in and sue? Or if not, then it's the possible influx of people who will flood us with modding questions if you do have that info up? As for me, I pro'lly won't contribute a lick's worth to the faqs. I just get all my info from HERE and pass it around to people I know.. But if they really need to know more about the subject, I'll give them links to check out what's being said here.
very nice let's go on with the talks and suggestions for some time more, after that we'll choose a standard format for all the faqs (people start working on it! ) it would be nice to have both txt and html templates for saying so. by the way, rember to have everything lightly! it must be easily to dl and read. after that we'll make a pool and.... START!!!
