Hum...no it's been their site for a long time!!!! Check it out: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.tecnosoft.com I regurarly visited their site in the good old days. I did a Whois on the domain and it sill belong to Twenty One Co.Ltd. the pachinko company who bought Tecnosoft years ago, sadly... So unless it is a hack made by fan who managed to hack their site, it looks pretty real to me, the site hasn't been updated since 2002 though and the update doesn't say much. Sabre
Oh God, don't let Thunder Force be changed in to a F*ing Pachinko machine ! I sure hope Technosoft come back in to the game world. Yakumo
Well, they had 5 years to do a TF pachinko machine, I still don't get it why a pachinko company bought Tecnosoft in the first place. My assumption would be that since the pachinko market is quite saturated (my understanding) so they may well be looking for additional source of revenue. I would think that in the light of success of VC, PSN and XBLA getting the old catalog back on sale would be a smart and easy thing to do to get money flowing in quick. Also the release of Broken Thunder might have a played a role in this resurrection, as the website states that Thunder Force is Tecnosoft's trademark so they might not be happy about it and want to do things right!!! The smart thing would have been to release Thunder Force 6 on the Dreamcast or at least on the PS2. Wait and see If it turns out be true, then it would be a first AFAIK for a cult developer to come back after so many years of silence. But since 2002 Twenty Co.Ltd kept the Tecnosoft domain with a blank page, so they might always have had a plan for Tecnosoft to come back. Sabre
The registrant of the domain tecnosoft.com is: Twenty-one Co.,Ltd. Tecnosoft Divi. Sasebo, NAGASAKI 859-3216 JP check http://news.nic.com/cgi-bin/whois
Thats been there for a looooooooong time. And I don't see Tecno Soft coming back anytime soon anyways.
Tecnosoft did some great games, although some of the rubbish they put on the Playstation and Saturn, they deserved to crash and burn. Still a Fantastic Pinball pachinko machine would work very well.
I completely agree, and I suspect they will neither bring new ideas to the genre, nor be able to revive the Tecnosoft spirit from 1992. Do we need another Triangle Service / Milestone? Still, a return of this kind would put a smile on my face.
Tecno Soft's return would be more painful than it would be pleasant... this I can almost assure you. I'm happy knowing they made some of the best games ever back in the 90s. Thats cool. I'd rather not see them destroy my childhood by butchering their own IPs in an attempt to come back *coughcoughSEGAcoughcoug*
Nope, I check the site regurlarly and this new version of the site has been there for only a few weeks/months. Check archive.org, http://web.archive.org/web/20070504063451/http://www.tecnosoft.com/ This is a snapshot of the site from May 2007. Sabre
You're right could be painful, SEGA is butchering everything, cause they don't know what to do anymore, developer? publisher? both? As usual SEGA is a mess. I keep some positive for Tecnosoft, eventhough the reason they got out of the market is still obscure to me. Sabre
They got bought by a Panchinko manufacturer. The only real remnant of Tecno Soft is this music company formed by the guy who did their music: http://www.factory-noise-ag.com/
Technosoft are leagues ahead of Milestone ! Triangle Services remind me a bit of Technosoft but MileStone? All their shooters are pretty dull compared to others on the Dreamcast. I have faith in them ! They only released 1 crap game and 1 poorish game on the Saturn while they released about 5 classics! Yakumo
Have faith in them? They released 10 Saturn games, 3 of them I would classify as classics, Hyper Duel, Thunderforce V and Steeldom at a push. 5 were average games, Nekketsu Oyako, Fantastic Pinball, Thunderforce Gold Pack I, Thunderforce Gold Pack II, Blast Wind and 2 were utter shite Hyper Reverthion and Kutto Ketto. There last couple of games were on the Playstation, the most famous of these being the Neorude series but most were RPGs or breeding type games. If anyone is interested here is Thunderforce I on the NEC PC-6001 (as well as early Tecnosoft games, I bet your wishing you could play Backgammon right now)... http://p6-kei.hp.infoseek.co.jp/TECNOsoft.html Also Yakumo, why do you keep calling Tecnosoft, Technosoft on your website and why do you call Hyper Duel, Hyper Dual (if it says it on the spine I'll let you off, as it says Hyper Duel in large letters on the cover...).
