Tequila does not mix well with gin, remember this fact.

God I love Tequila, but try to avoid the stuff since I drank 3/4 of a 1ltr bottle and woke up a few hours later sat in the pool hall doorway. The pool hall was a fair walk when sober from the club I was in, and you have to cross a busy dual carriageway to do it... never again.

I'm the same as you Tach. Love it but I should avoid it.
My last effort involved a bottle Mezcal, a 21st and waking up on the beach.........200km away from home.
Thankfully my mates were there as well. Apparentlly I was yelling "COASTAGE TIME! Let's go to the coast!" so they drove me down. The hangover was not enjoyable.
I've been sticking with beer since then but will probably start drinking tequila again soon. Only Tequila Sunrises or mixed with lime and soda though. No more shots.

I still love tequila. Anyone else here forego the salt in favour of a lime-tequila-lime sequence for a slammer? Tastes way nicer, especially if you're on the cheap silver tequila.

Mixing it with gin though, I could see how that could get messy. One of the most crazy drunk I've ever been in was doing tequila with absinthe, lemon juice and a bit of water in tall glasses. Good times.

I live like an hour away from the town where it was invented (Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico). The whole state of Jalisco is tradicionally "tequilero". Hell... it's the stereotypical mexican state. Mariachis with Sombreros drinking Tequila, people with guns in small towns, and the such. (Not everywhere, though, it's the 21st century and all...) Hell, this state even makes Corona beer.
My dad has a small newspaper and he gets bottles or barrels of Tequila in lieu of payment for advertisement from small factories. It's quite a tradition down here, to drink Tequila. I really don't like Tequila, though... I mean, I can drink the stuff and I don't mind the taste, but most of the Tequila brands are really harsh.
If you do drink Tequila, get the good stuff. It's softer than Vodka and you can drink it straight without even feeling it.

The habitual mix of Tequila is with Grapefruit Soda.
Some people mix it with coke.
    Ew.

That reminds me of the first time I drank down behind some bushes with my cousins - Smirnoff and coke - mank-tastic!

In my more mature years, I try to avoid spirits wherever possible. Though I probably don't really get to try any good stuff - the last thing I had was some really cheap-ass vodka with... Sunny D! That was so wrong...

I've heard stories about that stuff! Bad baaad stories... one involving running around a hotel in Ibiza (or somewhere in Spain)... naked...

Reading music festival 1999, a "young" Tachikoma finds a dodgy drinks stand selling illegally imported "wormwood" liquer, basically the raw absinthe before it's mixed with pernod and other spirits. 70% (not proof), and about £4 a shot. Much money and random wandering around jibbering later, I ended up with a 6 day hangover, I was unconcious for 36 hours, so missed half of the festival... that was "fun"

Assembler, I sense there's an interesting story behind your lesson of the day there...

Speaking of Absenthe, I just did some for the first time last week. The buzz wasn't too bad, but I think my body reacted badly to the wormwood or something, becasue I got some severe gastro-intestinal problems of the projectile diarerhha order going the next day.

I tend to lay off the liquor nowadays. Back in the day though my drink of choice was old Jack Daniels. I can remember stumbling home drunk off my ass at 4:00 am past two cop cars with half a fifth sticking out of my jacket. Good times.

Oohhh Absinthe. Is that the stuff you heat up on a spoon? I've always wanted to try that. The real stuff as I've heard there's lots of fake stuff out there.

    No, that's heroin.

You run absinthe over a sugar cube.

  17. The darkly hilarious thing about humanity is that as much as they complain about the ill effects of alcohol, they are more than ready to experience it night after night, should their liver and money allow. A doomed race indeed.

He's kind of right, actually... Traditionally you'd have an absinthe spoon, which has some holes in it, and you'd stick this on top of your glass with a sugarcube on top. Pour absinthe, water and maybe laudanum (liquid opiate) over the top, then set fire to whatever's left of the ice cube. Don't know about the laudanum, but I can sat that that method makes for a nastily sweet and warm shot, a bit like Sambuca if anyone's ever tried it (I don't like the stuff, prefer pernod as it's less sugary).

Aha. I knew it involved spoon burning. :)

lol no interest in Herion. Never touched it and never plan to.
Mezcaline(sp?) or Ketamine though......could be fun.

Ewww. Nobody should ever drink Gin, Period!

Nor should anybody ever accept a drink from a friend who says its just gin & tonic with very little gin.

Damn the 5 beers & vodka jello shooters for destroying my judgement. I should have realised i was chugging a full glass of gin after the first taste (it was my first time tasting gin or tonic). Boy was that a fun fill puking night.
