    Hi,

i have a problem creating a profile for my test kit.
When i want to create a user profile without live support the system crash and stop working.
I try this with and without hdd. With the hdd installed it crash and make a dump file. Without hdd the system stops working.
    I try this on a clean recovery 21256 and 21119 ..
    Anyone an idea whats wrong?

That's weird....? How are you creating the profile? Through pressing X on the xshell screen for tools or doing it through the retail dashboard when it crashes?

I haven't made many attempts at making profiles (I wish I didn't need one for saving but eh), but from the experience I had, making a profile on the XDK Xshell menu should be okay.

Making one via the dash though... I'm not sure.

Typically, as long as you do not have an Ethernet cable plugged in into the kit, through the dash will be just as fine to do as through the profile management in the xshell. You can do it connected to a network, it just takes forever regardless if it's an XBL account (which wont allow creation since it's tries to phone home on Partnernet) or a standard off line account.

I try it on the dev options result = crash
On retail its not possible, ends up with a corrupt profile..

Sounds like a bad flash, Try a recovery to freshen up the system?

Yes I recover more than 10 times different versions with complete hdd wipe.
    Damaged nand maybe?
I can start anything. Np at all. Only with creating profiles.

Someone here with a zephyr stress kit has the same exact issue. Possibly a corrupted flash chip.

If you are running a recovery, doesn't it wipe the flash and reprogram it?

If so, it can't be a corrupt flash. If it's bad blocks, those are mapped into reserve block area, as nand is expected to have defects - both when it's made and more over the course of its life.

Or does some stuff remain when using the recoveries?

What i can see the recovery finished successful. I try two remote recoverys and one from a disc. But maybe one part of the flash did not work. But there is not many i can do wrong..

it could be a bad kv? as the kv isnt signing properly. best way is to KD the kit to see the root of the problem.

That would be my assumption is something is going pear shaped in the flash process or files aren't being added to the HDD properly. When you're performing the recoveries with either iso or remote, are you choosing to wipe the hdd and add the files to it or are you pulling the drive previous to new flash? I've had similar issues and it was all about avatareditor.xex in my case that wasn't being added to the hard drive that was causing my issues with profile creations.

Yes i choose more than one time to wipe the hdd.
That was also in my mind.. Because when i have the hdd plugged inside, and choose in dev dash without live function system stops reboot and dump a dmp file. Without the hdd the system freeze at this point.
So can we say for sure that creating a profile starts with the content on the hdd and has nothing to do with any flash on the board?

    I will test another hdd..

I believe all the profile is on the HDD just like Live Enivronments and Avatar/Kinect files.

i formated the hdd now on my pc (not quick format) to fat32. Recovery again, still the same problem.
Just to be clear, its a 360 slim test kit. It has internal memory. Also wiped.
