In what may seem to some like a desperate attempt to gain ground in the Japanese market, Microsoft is looking for applicants in an Xbox 360 pre-release game testing program. No special qualifications are needed (provided you live in Japan somewhere near Tokyo and are fluent in the Japanese language) – any average Joe can apply and possibly be selected for this coveted volunteer position. Through this test, Microsoft hopes to gather players’ opinions and impressions of pre-release Xbox 360 games. Participants will communicate to Microsoft by answering questions via phone and the web, participating in a survey in Tokyo, and attending group interviews. Microsoft will also compensate participants for transportation fees of up to 3,000 yen, as well as give out freebees in the forms of games, etc. Starting today through 2/13, Sega’s Virtual Fighter 5 will be tested in 3 Sega Amusement Center locations throughout Tokyo: Ikebukuro GIGO, Club Shinjuku West Exit, Club Sega Akihabara (I actually used to frequent the latter, so I’d guess they will be located on either the G or 2nd floor in that particular establishment). In addition, the player cards used for last year's location test which took place during the period of 11/26-27 will also be compatible with the current location test machines although all your data will be erased upon usage. To little to late for that crap to happen. They should have tryed it closer and or near around launch period
Na. The PS1 wasnt a blockbuster hit in the first few months, so anythings possible (Wishful thinking).
   Anyway, i hope the Xbox360 to be more competitive (not talking about quality, but about comercial appeal). The market will appreciate.
Yo yakumo, since you went to some joypolis around there, why dont you go and take some VF5 pictures for us to see?
B/c Yakumo lives extremely far from the 3 places you can currently play VF5. Also, they really tight w/ the cameras at these location tests. There's a shitload of people at them, so perhaps stealth mode will yield good results. FYI -- I will try this out on the weekend.
K I didnt know, but he couyld always get the X360 gig, after all transportation is payed by MS!. So you are goin to the event?
If you pay 35000 yen for a return flight over the weekend then yeah, I'll go  I'm sure I could grab a few nice shots and a video with the phone!! Problem is that the video would be in ASF format which I can't edit due to some stupid Microsoft license being needed. Yakumo
Transportation reimbursement is pretty standard for work in Japan... at least in the mass transit world.
Looks like Microsoft is trying, though I'm not all that pleased with yet another console with no good titles, except for Ridge Racer 6. But that game could probably run on your old Xbox. Anyways... The Official Xbox Magazine recently released a Full Beta of Final Fantasy XI, and I just happend to get one. Here are some shots of the disc. http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/5525/ff11011ff.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/5802/ff11029by.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7070/ff11037oy.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/4616/ff11040ov.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/287/ff11057th.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7006/ff11063fc.jpg I have to say, after playing bith PlayStation 2 and PC versions you will not be impressed. This game should look so much better on Xbox 360, and it doesn't. I'm sorry, but nicer solar flare doesn't do it for me. At least it's free.
