? Yeah ? Well, I'm confused as you never explained clearly which in your opinion was which? lol
if it contains a chip capable to adress USB peripherals might be useful... pendrive are far better than zips nowadays, and peripherals might be nice for homeberwers
I also don't like this inclusion of the word "DCEmu". Anyone who knows Wragg's history in general would question associating him with anything of value that end users put their money to. The device could have value IF and only IF it can be reverse engineered and new samples created, assuming it's even a working unit. Talent and resources would probably be better spent reverse engineering the BBA though and they have some usefulness now.
True lol someone get on that. I want DC online again  And as for DCEmu that is just a message board I'm referring to. http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/index.php
I have no idea why people are bidding so early and costing themselves a lot of money! If he has more than one, then he could be sued for theft by deception, his claims of there being only one would be a key selling point. You can't lie that there's one, and then sell more and not expect to get sued.
Well, I for one cannot see reason to buy this - unless someone is damn good with the electronification. However, if it can be figured out how it works, maybe someone'd be able to build a drive connector - like for a dual-layer DVD drive or something. Unlikely, but possible.
Yeh, I know all about it. Wragg doesn't have a very good history, I wouldn't trust him or the majority of the members of that place with such hardware. Bad blood is all.
Forget the Zip drive. I have a better plan. For $4000, you could get 400g of the green! (at the current going rate of $10/gram here in BC), I'm sure if you're buying that much though, they'll bump it up to 500g Of course, all DC homebrew from now on will look like this: cout << "Dude, Dreamcast fucking rocks man, I want a sandwich!"; Or we could all talk about getting the BBA back in production?
$1600 andhe wants more money, how silly. Now less people will bid as they will have been turned off...
Well the auction is over. As for my comments on the DCEmu community Whats wrong with Wragg? I liked his idea to find a way to turn the Dreamcast into a DVDrom compatible machine. And Ain't Mark3001 the admin over there. Anyways the auction has ended... I wonder why bought the thing! Went for only $1,631.02
I've always wanted to know how the GD-ROM interacts with the mobo. Is it IDE? SCSI? Proprietary? Could a similar drive be flashed and replace the original?
IIRC the dreamcast bus is similar to ISA ( in fact most old buses are ) so a io controller could be easily added. It could easily be ide/scsi/parallel as zip drives were produced with all three of those iirc. It could have been something else altogether, but you run out of options to make it different . I would guess it was based on the parallel port version as converting from dreamcast to scsi/ide and then back is just a waste of time. Although if someone happened to have a dreamcast to usb design on their desk and also a usb zip drive then it could be that too. Someone who was capable of building hardware could knock up something better for alot less money than the seller wants. Reverse engineering the zip drive would be a waste of time, apart from historical curiosity.
