As the title says, this is an RGBS mod for the Atari 2600! After all these years we can finally get proper colors and an extremely sharp image that looks like emulators! The 2600RGB was developed by Tim Worthington, the maker of the NESRGB, N64RGB, GGTV, and SMSFM mod boards.

    Now about the board itself:

Like the NESRGB, it sits in between the motherboard and the TIA chip. Unless your board has that chip socketed, you will have to desolder the TIA and solder in a chip socket of the correct size.

It outputs Red, Green, Blue, C-Sync, Luma (Y), Chroma (C), Composite Video, and Audio.

It is compatible with all models of the 2600, however, the 2600Jr. is much more difficult to install this board in due to the height of the system. It is compatible with both NTSC and PAL systems and will auto-detect 50/60Hz.

It has 6 color palettes to choose from: 3 for NTSC and 3 for PAL. Palettes can be swapped via a button on either the console or the controller.

It includes the Pause mod, the remote select mod, and the remote reset mod.

So what are your thoughts on this? Are you super excited for this? I know I am!

EDIT: Removed line of text about release since it is out now! Get it here: http://etim.net.au/shop/shop.php

Only wish he would add some kind of scandoubler in his boards since it would then be useable on modern TV's that only accept 480i/p without extra hardware added onto the system.

I imagine I will pick one up eventually. But I can't justify 60 bucks on a 2600, especially when I never turn it on.

I actually picked up a working but "broken" 2600 for 10$ a few weeks ago, the console's output cable was cut and I was thinking of doing the S-Video mod but now I think this is what I will eventually get around to doing..

Think I would run one of Helder's Multi-out SNES sockets and then wire this thing up with SCART into my current setup.

Nice find! I always thought an SNES Multi-Out would go great on the Atari 2600. I have no idea if the extra components in the SNES RGBS cables would affect the video output. Could someone clarify this?

Some screenshots were added on Tim's 2600RGB info page. The 2600 has only ever looked this good in emulators on a PC! Hopefully I can track down one of the six-switch Sears Telegames 2600s for this mod.
