The apocalpyse is coming...I'm actually considering a Wii U

I have to be 100%honest... the allure of Smash Brothers and an actual New IP is pretty strong right now. Then again that huge ass battery munching controller. That and I still have my beefs. BUT SMASH BROTHERS HAVING EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER.... There's also the fact not much outside of Bayonetta 2 is all that alluring. Still, had to make this topic to see if any of you die from shock.

 

That's cool. I'm considering it too, but it'll probably be a while. I may end up getting one just for Smash Bros. I like the fact that it uses PowerPC, as its the only console of this generation to do so. Once the 360 and PS3 are discontinued, it'll be the only console to use PPC - which would make it one of very few consumer devices that use PPC. I can't think of any others, but there might be some. Not that that really matters much, but I find it interesting. There were a bunch of games announced at E3 that I thought looked pretty cool, although most of them are coming out in 2015. So maybe if I don't get a Wii U this year, I'll get one next year, when more stuff is coming out.

 

Agreed, will be getting one mainly for Smash Bros and am looking forward to Mario Maker too that looks really cool. Can't wait to get creating some real challenging and funny levels on that!

 

I'd consider getting one if it wasn't so relatively expensive. The PS4 being $399 pretty much killed any chance of the Wii U being people's "cheap secondary console" the way the Wii was, and they can't really justify the price with the gamepad anymore since their biggest games don't even use it (MK8 doesn't, and I can't see Smash Bros. using it either). Plus my friend made the mistake of buying one at launch so I've played all the major games, and none of them impressed me enough to make me buy my own system.

 

Sadly I have to buy one for Bayo 2...although part of me hopes it's not so great so I don't have to bother. Unlikely...

 

Well, the first one wasn't, so that seems likely.

 

I'll be waiting for Smash Bros before I think about getting one. Hopefully there will be a bundle like MK8.

 

The only thing I can say is that, are you the kind of person who at best, only buys a few games per year? Then the Wii-U is currently the best choice after PC.

Basically Nintendo rarely fails in regards into making games that doesn't really imitate or clone another popular game. Which means if you're jaded by whatever popular genre is at the moment, the Wii-U is very very unique in that regard.

But if you're the person who needs their yearly fix of FPS shooters like Halo and stuff, then sadly the Wii-U is not for you.

 

Certainly will dive in for the Mario games. Whether they hold my interest, leave that to chance. Too many of my western games I already have on Steam and could sell to fund it.
If only used Wii U's were more reasonable. Haven't seen much discount over Nintendo refurbished or whatnot.

Bayonetta was fucking awesome imo...God of War and DMC (that gen) not being fit the lick the shit off her shoes.

 

Wii U deals are popping up, considering Nintendo sells them refurbished for about $200(?) as does Groupon recently, and Target is offering a deal next week.

I get the feeling that Nintendo is only company compared to the other two that doesn't whine enough about their hardware. Last year at E3, Square Enix said that the PS4 can help them do what the PS3 can't do, which they said about the PS3 in regards to the PS4. Look how their next gen games turned out.

 

If you see one for a steal of a price, I would get one. My husband got one of the ones by that crazy guy that was selling them stupidly cheap with something like 5 or so games and I was enjoying the new Mario Kart game on it - the controller is kinda stupidly large but I can see the appeal to it.

The factor that Bayonetta 2 includes the first game and that also includes additional Nintendo exclusive outfits that do have changes like coins and the like which are fun little bits too is a plus as well. The GameCube controllers were also a major plus too because I wasn't super keen on the Wii type controllers.

 

There's a Kirby game coming out too and as I've stated in the past I do love me some Kirby. NES Remix 1 and 2, Shovel Knight, Another system to get Mighty No 9 on. GBA and DS VC games, Hyrule Warriors too. It's getting harder and harder to dismiss the system. It all boils down to getting one for the right price as I still plan on picking up a PS4 soonish. The Region Lock is still a problem too, there's always that chance of something coming out in Japan that won't here and it's not like the Playstation where I can just say fuck it and Import.

I still have concerns of course. I still feel funny about giving Money to Nintendo. I still feel like Nintendo doesn't care about it's fans. I don't feel Nintendo is doing enough to move away from Mario and Zelda. That Tablet controller needs to be smaller (Like vita sized) The Lack of F-Zero pisses me the fuck off. I'm not so sure if Buy one that any of the Sonic games on it would see any game play from me. It seems like the Wii U started the Sonic Cycle anew.

Cons still out weigh the Pros right now.

 

Either nintendo goes bonkers and makes it cheap like the GC which went for as low as $50 at one point, or the upcoming Starfox ends up being as awesome as 64 was so I get one for that game alone

...........unless someone builds an emulator in which case nintendo can suck it.

 

I don't think it's IF I get a Wii U now. It's If I get a Wii U before I get a PS4. But at the same time Super Retro Trio and several carts of various games I've enjoyed emulating and probably fash carts or repros. Oh and I wouldn't mind an Ouya. So many games, not enough time.

 

The Wii U was my first choice. It was out first, I love how it incorporates the Miiverse (you'll get more of a chance to explore it when you buy one), and it's a giant DS style system. It's so lumpin good.

 

I think it's because Nitnedo had the best E3 that the Wii U looks appealing now. We knew about most of these games for a while, although now we are getting closer to their release. Also, no one seems to mention Xenoblade Chronicles X. Does nobody care about that game?

 

If you saw my Twitter during E3 Nintendo direct I was taking a HUGE shit on them the only game I had anything good to say about was Splatoon. Anyways I was talking about the Wii and Wii U on Twitter last night when I realized my N64 and Gamecube need some love I think I only have 9 N64 games and 15 or 16 Gamecube games. I gotta show those systems some love first then Get a Wii U and start grabbing Wii U and Regular Wii games. I do have the 4 N64 I bought the system for, F-Zero X, Sin and Punishment, Mario Kart 64 (which is in the system when no other game is at all times) and Ridge Racer 64. Gamecube, I'm not sure what else to get I have some good stuff but nothing uniquely Gamecube.

 

Nintendo really only had a decent conference because M$ and Sony stuff were shown before E3.

I have F-Zero GX for the GameCube and think it's ok. Don't know why Miyamoto is against it and decided to halt the series because of one game he doesn't like.
