It's only like 10c more for a pack of 25s right? I suppose that adds up if you buy cartons. Glad I quit..

Haven't really started to see how screwed we'll be by this budget. I know the Medicare levy is going up and the mining tax is going down to ease the pain on those poor old billionaires. My heart bleeds.

Yea it is poor miner's lol! Old mate Clive is going for PM.

I work in mining (electrical drafter) it is very quiet at the moment. They are waiting for the election to release more projects.

Noticed how he succeeded... Goods over $1000 in value are now taxed, and they are trying to bring in a tax to tax EVERY item posted in regardless of value. Say goodbye to shopping online...

People buying wheels overseas (much cheaper than the china made rubbish you get here) now often send them in separate boxes/consignments to go around the tax.

This country has gone backwards over the years, and thanks to the wonderful work of the idiots in parliament now who have no idea, no qualifications, and a severe lack of common sense and business principles... get ready for more levies. :)

It is always the middle class who suffer.

RE: Mining, over the last few years there have been 10's of billions of dollars worth of projects cancelled or put on hold, not surprised when the taxes are getting greater and they pay enough in royalties for idiotic "ownership rights". That, and Perth is expensive because of the "mining" yet not everyone works in that industry so it's a shit excuse for justifying ridiculous prices too.

Yeah it's pretty crap here at the moment. Impossible to find a place to rent etc. Then they pour our taxes into huge dumb construction projects (our city has looked horrible for years because everything is under construction/being torn down). Yeah, build more big new buildings when there are already a ton of vacant old shops. That and Elizabeth Quay. Blah. There's a mining recruitment centre up in Joondalup and every time I'm up there (Kiwi Shop!) the carpark is full and cars have spilled out onto the road. Seems a lot of people still want to get into it and I can't really blame them for the money I guess.

Hmm this thread got pretty political all of a sudden.. :p

Went game-hunting yesterday down Fremantle way. Not really much of anything around there it seems.

nah~! with the sky rocket markup I still think majority of items would be cheaper than the local price even with the tax/s/h and etc. ;p

You fucking kidding me?! Ridge Racer: WOW! That's a new record!!
In all honesty though, this is what ruins the market I also can't gather that someone would pay $700 for a game! It's not even limited, or extremely rare. It's uncommon. I haven't used eBay recently actually, that link made me choke on my drink.

Wow. Think I'll get all my boxed N64 games out and make enough to retire.

edit: This is kinda depressing. Someone wants $170 for Ken Griffey baseball for crying out loud.

I got mine for about $80 but that was ~7-8 years ago. Last time I looked at NES systems on eBay the toploaders were up around $150 and the regular NES was around $30-50. Now the regulars are around $100 so I'm guessing the toploaders cost more than a car.

(I remember seeing piles of them being sold at $15 at the end of the console's life cycle but I stupidly didn't buy any)

Who would even know that these systems now would be worth so much money? I'm not sure how this even started, I guess there's now more collectors than ever before. I started collecting about 5-6 years ago, and retro was reasonably priced. It just seems in the last 3 years everything has jumped in price.

Yeah it's insane and I have no clue how it started either. I had a 5ish year break from collecting because life got in the way and when I recently jumped back in it was a shock. I think with the N64 stuff it's because all the 90s kids who grew up with the N64 as their first system are now starting to work and getting disposable income. Maybe they see older stuff as even more valuable.

Yahoo JP Auctions don't seem to have changed much, but then again I've only ever bought a couple of things from there.
