How close is the area where the picture above was taken to the epicenter?

From the news here a nuclear cloud will arrive in approx. 30 min. at Tokyo.
Wind is very slow and it should start to rain tomorrow - that is nearly a worst case scenario. Lets's hope that the security containers really had no breach!

I've very quickly mashed this application together, It's a browser for google maps which show updates about the situation such as evacuation zone, earthquake activity etc along with other things. Nothing special, just has some useful info. Get it here: http://tinyurl.com/6hezgs9

Yokusuka is more or less next to Yokohama which itself is just South of Tokyo.

I wonder when all the aftershocks will calm down. That's got to be nerve racking for all of you in japan.

Noo... I should have kept my mouth shut.

I don't see a western release happening (the games aren't made for western release in mind and the tend to get picked up by budget publishers). I fear this will hurt irem a lot.

It's kind of interesting now to see the effect the game industry is having at the current time. Quite a few titles due this week are being postpone with no set date. I can see this going on for the rest of the month.

Reactors are in bad shape, using seawater at this point means the facility is a write off, you can't salvage anything after trying this. This is a last ditch attempt, but a noble one. Kill the plant to save the people.

We're not going to get the full story until years later I suspect and even then ... France denies to this day that the cloud from Chernobyl ever entered French airspace

It's quite serious but it's not dire like Chernobyl was.

    Good read here.

Holding up OK thanks mate. I am still expected in the office today... was going to buy a bike this morning. Not sure what to do at all. The local shops have sod all in them. We have enough food for probably 2 days, and some water. The food requires heating water though (instant noodle) and we don't even have a kettle yet... only been here 2 months and still settling in. Could grab one today if I do buy the bike.

    I'm at a bit of a loss.

It's the nuclear stuff that's got me a bit concerned... just not knowing exactly what's going on. Too much speculation in the media.

I'd hate to be up in Tokyo area right now. Things are still normal down here. Nothing unusual at all. It's hard to believe I'm in the same country.

On a side note, the missus and I went to give bloody for the people of Sedai on Sunday. I was told I couldn't though because I was British. Apparently anyone that lived in most European countries between 1986 and 1998 can't give blood due to BSE (mad cow disease). This is crazy. I didn't even know BSE was around in 1986. Anyway, I asked them to check if I had BSE (which I don't) but they wouldn't. Great aye. I sure hope they don't pull that crap if I ever need a blood transplant.

Agreed on both counts. I've heard off and on the racism that non-Nihong face there and wouldn't be shocked if that wasn't the case. If you haven't been to the UK since 86 it is incredibly unlikely you've got the prion floating around without symptoms.

And technology did what it was supposed to.
