Does anyone know any more consoles that would belong here in this list? I have excluded the Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, GameCube, PSX, PS2, & XBOX (for other reasons). This is what I have currently compiled: Atari 2600 Atari 400 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Atari 800 Atari Jaguar Atari Lynx Atari VCS Atari XE Game System Coleco Adam Coleco Telstar Colecovision Commodore 64 Commodore CDTV Fairchild Channel F GCE Vectrek JVC Wondermega JVC Wondermega 2 JVC X-Eye Magnavox Odyssey Magnavox Odyssey 2 Mattel Intellivision Milton-Bradley Microvision Milton-Bradley Vectrex NEC PC-Engine NEC TurboExpress NEC TurboGrafx-16 NeoGeo SNK Nintendo 64 Nintendo 64 Disk Drive Nintendo DS Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo Entertainment System 2 Nintendo Famicom Nintendo Famicom Disk System Nintendo Game Boy (Grey) Nintendo Game Boy Advance (Purple) Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP (Purple) Nintendo Game Boy Color (Purple) Nintendo Game Boy Pocket (Silver) Nintendo Super Famicom Nintendo Super Famicom Bandai Satellaview Nintendo Super Famicom Jr. Nintendo Super Nintendo Entertainment System Nintendo Super Nintendo Entertainment System 2 Nintendo Virtual Boy Panasonic 3DO Phillips CD-I Pioneer LaserActive Sega CD module RCA Studio II Sega CD Sega CD 2 Sega Game Gear Sega Genesis Sega Genesis 2 Sega Genesis 3 Sega Genesis 32X Sega Genesis CDX Sega Genesis Nomad Sega Genesis Power Base Converter Sega Master Gear Converter Sega Master System Sega Master System II Sega Mega Drive Sega Mega Drive 32X Sega Mega Drive II Sega Mega Drive Master System Converter Sega Mega Drive Master System Converter II Sega Mega LD Sega Mega-CD Sega Mega-CD 2 Sega Multimega Sega Super 32X Sega Wondermega SG-1000 SG-1000 Mark II SG-1000 Mark III Victor Wondermega RG-M1 Victor Wondermega RG-M2
Depends what you define as a console. For example: Is a PC engine different to a duo? How about different to a LT. Should there be PC engine AND CD-ROM2 AND Duo? Should there be the PC engine and the Turbografx. How about the turbografx PAL (Slight differences between US and PAL models) Does the 3DO blaster count as different to the 3DO (it allowed 3DO games to be played on the PC). Now, for corrections/additions! you have victor wondermega and JVC wondermega. They are the same company and one (probably JVC) should be eliminated You're missing: PC-FX PC-Engine GT (if grafx and express are listed, then normal engine and GT should be) some form of PC Engine and Turbografx Cd unit (see above note) Other laseractive units (I know there was a pc engine one) Amiga CD 32 Atari Jag-CD And probably a few more Don't take this as a hit though. It's just a few things that need to be clarifyed (Basically what warrants a seperate item) and a few additions. Keep it up, and take onboard any additions etc.
There's quite a few missing. Super A'can, Vic-A, Gp32 (BLU/FLU), Neo Pocket/NGPC/NGPCmini, Wonderswan/WScolour/WScrystal, infact shitloads of handhelds, home machines and stuff. If you're gonna include variations in GB colours (of which loads are missing), many of the other consoles have colour variations. And why are you excluding certain videogame consoles? EDIT: Famicom Jr, the Laseractive MD unit is the same as the Mega LD-ROM, also add the PC Engine Super LD-ROM2 for the Laseractive as well. Famicom Twins (3 versions), the Videotitiling unit with built-in Fami, SuperFami/Fami Sharp TVs.
This was discussed extensively on this board a year or two ago. I produced this list: http://www.geocities.com/sweaterfishdeluxe/kants/consoles.html I never really finished it, I meant to add in handhelds and also color code the entires based on whether they were original release systems, add ons, regional variations, re-designed systems, licensed systems, etc. I also wanted to try to add pirates (probably not all of them in the case of the Atari 2600 and Famicom, but at least the significant ones). And maybe also turn the whole thing into a database website where clicking a system would take you to some pictures and a short description of the system. If anyone wants to continue the plan, they're free to as indicated by the disclaimer at the bottom of the page. ...word is bondage...
Yeah, we have been over this a ton... Atari Computers are not consoles....and on that note, if you're going to separate atari 400, 800, you might as well include the whole atari computer line...except you shouldn't...as they're not consoles... Yeah...Coleco ADAM isn't a console either...a computer... Yeah, get rid of Commodore 64, though 64GS is alright... It's Vectrex, not Vectrek Pretty sure Coleco telstar is just a pong clone... Atari 2600 is the same thing as Atari VCS Odyssey does not take ROM cartridges, and isn't a true console. Now, heres a random array of consoles... APF 1000 Imagination Machine, Game King, Mega Duck/Cougar Boy, Adventurevision, Supervision, Actionmax, Loopy, Fujitsu FM Towns Marty, Bally Astrocade, Ooh...the little mentioned Odyssey 3/Phillips G7400 (Yeah, they have keyboards, but are not computers) That's all that I have just off the top of my head...
Are you going to count the Socrates "educational" game system? If you're going to list variations, you're going to SUFFER with famiclones and Brazilian Sega, Atari and other stuff. How about this, Mark: You could actually make every "main" console one item of the list, and add "sub-items" to its variations. For example (mind you, my example is VERY incomplete and is just to list "order") ATARI 2600 ----------Atari 2600 Junior ----------Sears Video Arcade Intellivision ----------Intellivision ----------Intellivision 2 ----------Sears Super Video Arcade Nintendo Famicom ----------NES ----------NES Top Loader ----------Famicom Twin ... and so on
Sweater Fish Deluxe, thanks alot but that javascript seems to be failing with SP2 or just my computer. Ive always wanted a full list of all consoles so i could cross reference it with TOSEC and Good-series of dat files and get an estimated number of all released console games in exsitance... then use that number against my own collection to see the percentage my collection is to being compelete... im guessing its around 0.001% edit: speling errar
Hm, it seems to be some sort of conflict in Internet Explorer, probably due to all the garbage javascripts Geoshities puts on their pages. It works fine in Firefox, but not in Internet Explorer. So anyway I tried uploading the stuff to my other webspace and it doesn't work right there in Internet Explorer OR Firefox (possibly because I had to rename the .JS files in order to upload them to atari.net since they have file type restrictions), but at least it seems to default to all nodes open instead of all nodes closed. So, try this: http://www.atari.net/sites/casualgamer/kants.html ...word is bondage...
Wow! I was going to revise my list by making NTSC-J, NTSC-U, PAL collumns. Wow, my list is nothing compared to Sweater Fish Deluxe's.
I did something similar to this a while back on the boards. Do you want to include :variations of systems (Country variations and other) :Game Computers Here is my list if it will help you any. Mr. Casual's list rocks the other one...but it still needs Odyssey 3, APF1000, and the removal of Odyssey, as its just a pong...it's the first one, but its a pong.
Mister Casual's list is indeed quite good... just a couple corrections. 1) Intellivision 3 was not released. 2) You are listing the Aquarius under Mattel. If so, you need to list the Adam under Coleco
Another thing is the Atari 2800. It's Japan-Only. It's a 2600, but if he's listing the Intellivision 2, then he should list the atari 2800 and the 2600 Jr. The two 2600s he's listing are the Heavy Sixer and 4 switch revision, right? There's also two versions of the Lynx. Still, though, it's a pretty complete list.
Yeah the system from INTV is often called the Intellivision III. Its proper name is the Intellivision Pro, though. Also, I'm not sure what the Atari 2600 DVS is, there's a few 2600 revisions, but I don't know which one the DVS is. The "Darth Vader System"? I didn't know about the Arcadia MPT-03 or the second verison of the Channel F, either. I also forgot about the VideoPac G7400 that Blur2040 mentioned. The Odyssey^3 never came out, though, so it shouldn't be included. For the most part, though, my list and Mr. Casual's are the same, mine had a few his doesn't and his has a few mine doesn't. Someone should combine them. Quite a few of the ones I have listed but Mr. Casual doesn't are licensed variants either sold in the same region as the one from the original maker or licensed for sal ein Korea or Brazil, maybe those don't need to be on the list. What I used as a sort of rule of thumb in creating my list was the name of the console. This keeps, for instance, LE color variants like the N64 or Dreamcast had from needing to be included (which would make the list unbearbale), but does mean that both the Mega Drive and Genesis can be included even though they had essentially the same case design. That's why I don't have the Vader 2600 on my list, I do list the four-switch 2600A, which included both woodgrain and black models, Atari doesn't seem to have differentiated between those in name. ...word is bondage...
Tomy Pyuuta jr, the console version of the Tomy Tutor, released only in Japan. There was also a French handheld called Gametronic, which was a clone of the Game master. Also Megaduck/Cougarboy
This is the reason I quit the list making. Its WAY too complicated. If you need the list, just combine them. This list was helped made by several people, too. So, If we work together, MAYBE we could have a 99% list.
