The Final Fight Hack - More Videos and Discussion

Hey there everyone. I'm just going to copy and paste this real quick...

I remember watching a video on YouTube a while back that showed footage of a rare version of Final Fight that let you play as some of the baddies, and a host of other strange things. Well, as luck would have it, I recently found the board. I've done my research and I know a lot of people here still want some more info on the game, so I broke out my digital camera and decided to record the game from start to finish. There's 5 videos, all are about ten minutes a piece except for the last one, so I tried to make the videos mildly entertaining

is there a dump of the hacked roms.
Id like to burn a few eproms and try it on my final fight pcb.

 

I did not dump the roms, and I can't as I don't have the equipment to do so. However I have every reason to believe the roms will show up soon. I know two people here had it before I did, but lord knows how many people had it between the second person and the guy I bought it from.

 

Pretty cool, nice to see complete videos. It would be sweet if the rom dumps show up. Dumping the ROMs is trivial, you just need access to an eprom programmer that supports 16bit eproms.

Edit: I just had a creative idea if you wanted to be crafty. If you can make the Sega CD link cable to dump Sega Genesis cartridges, you could install a socket into a cartridge and use that setup to dump all the ROM chips one by one.

 

Or a hack to the Sega CD version to add these features

 

Another member had this board and had video shown up, but not as good as this quality. Hopefully one day this version will be dumped.

 

My idea was serious and would work. You're just dreaming though. If you wanna go that route I wish someone would hack the Sega CD version and make it a 32X CD game and have the same color depth as the arcade and not have the slowdown and sprite dropping.

I assume the appeal of the SCD/MCD version would be the ease of burning and playing on the original hardware.

I obviously don't understand what is involved in this; could someone explain why this would be impossible? Format of the dump vs cd rip? Impossible to figure out the hack changes itself? Would require epic reverse-developing?

 

The Sega Genesis/Sega CD is far different than the CPS1. All they have in common is the 68000 CPU really. If you wanted to make a similar hack for the Sega CD you'd be starting from scratch, you couldn't just magically transplant it. If you could then it would be possible to magically transplant any CPS1 game to Sega CD, which hasn't happened as it's not possible. Serious effort would be involved.

Really it'd be best just to get the dump of the arcade hack and everyone can emulate it rather than dreaming about someone making a similar hack for Sega CD.

Yeah I realised the virtual impossibility of the Sega Cd hack I jokingly suggested. Sometimes it is good to dream. Much more likely to emulated in MAME as you suggest.

 

Protos of the Arcade or Sega CD? The Arcade had the hooker bitches and everyone. I think Mega CD had the skirts made a bit longer and Sega CD they were even longer I think. I remember there was a page that described all the differences between versions.

Well, the JP or ehh arcade version had a chick with a high-cut shirt (epic underboob) as well as the small skirt if I remember correctly.
