Clearly it's not worth the time. If ASSEMbler and/or the major site-members won't be in the chan, it's just not gonna work.

I only ever really used IRC to get the latest XBMC builds back in the day. I doubt most people are going to go out of their way to utilize this sort of thing. The chatbox we have now is convenient for everyone and is doing pretty well. It isn't even -that- popular as it is...

 

I like IRC - but its been tried here before and failed. So no need bringing it all up again

 

I would enjoy an irc channel

if the majority votes no, can we at least have any sign or banner on the front page saying efnet #assemblergames? This would cost 0 and we could have our irc #.

BTW: a lot of people use irc all the time. I'm on 3 networks at the moment.

I'm enjoying chatbox now, would be neat if she was tweaked for that lag effect.

 

The problem with IRC is that most people here are a bit older and have to work all day long while IRC is (or was) frequented by a generation that can just study all day and have it running in the background. Not sure if I'm right about this assumption, but I know that the amount of people I know from IRC channels has drastically decreased once they finished their degree and I don't know if there would be so many active members on an ASM IRC chan... most people only post when they have a free minute or so, but don't have it open all the time in the background like IRC.

 

So.. if the goal is an unofficial irc channel.. and the one i'm currently idling in on efnet has banned members...would a new one be started elsewhere... i mean, hell- efnet makes everyone sad

 

I just leave my irc open in the background all day. I wouldn't start an official AG channel, imo. An unofficial one where people actually want to chat would make more sense. No affiliate to AG

Also, the chat box seems weird. Does everyone else have to constantly refresh to see new messages?

 

Refreshing helps. But no not all the time. bwt half hour ago the thing was booming we were really giving it a blast I didnt have to refresh. Sometimes when i pop in everyones go quiet

 

alright. i rarely type in their A) i never have anything useful to say... ever. and B) i can never tell if it actually works. lol

 

Oh shes working alright. sometimes i need to refresh or it wont let me type in the box.
We're good people. I bought up saveloys once never regretted it. good people

 

Hex1gon annoys me. I suppose he can't see my posts now. You're right though the chatbox does need refreshing now and then.
