You need to get out of Tokyo mate. Every petrol station I've ever been to sells drinks at the very least. The local ESSO I visit has a full on cafe with sandwiches, light snacks and a whopping big screen to watch while you sit and relax. They've even got a few arcade cabs in there however they're filled with mahjong crap. Then again, Jamtex would be happy :)

Thought my ears were burning

Even outside Tokyo, very few petrol stations that I have seen (Saitama, Gunma, Tochigi and Ibaraki) seems to have anything other then petrol and maybe a vending machine nearby.

Man, that's sad. Even the big cities down in southern Honshu and most of Kyushu have at least a vending machine. Then again we don't get ripped off with those skinny cans of drink in train stations either. I remember wondering how the hell Coke and other drink companies could get away selling half the amount of drink for the same price. In Kyushu vending machines a 350ml coke is only 100 yen but for some reason it's 120 yen where I live in Honshu only 30 minutes away by car.

Aah, the good old biscuit can (American biscuit, not European). Those are, for the most part limited to coffee and places where they can fuck you (airports and stuff).

Ahhhh yes, nothing better than paying the same amount for an 8 ounce can of coke/pepsi that you would for a 12 ounce can.:banghead:

In the summer they have the larger size (14oz?) right next to the normal sized ones for the same price.

yeah..and even at the airport you don't pay more then 150en ($1.5) for a 500ml PET. if i compare this to swiss, you have to pay now about 500en ($5) for a 330ml PET.

Don't get me going about American airport prices. Narita you can eat for a somewhat normal fee. I went to Starbucks in HNL. Got a juice & a crappy sandwich for $13.
