I think by "the movies I'm tolerating" he meant "the movies I'm going to watch". The second Mortal Kombat movie is hilariously bad though. Probably the only video game movie (and arguably Street Fighter) to get to the "so bad it's good" stage.
Few movies get to that stage. Even the ones that do are still hard for me to watch. I never got into the whole "lets watch this cuz it's so hilariously bad." i've got friends who just watch horrible, horrible movies. i'm too picky with the movies i watch to do that.
I think that the only good movie is Residen Evil 1 and Silent Hill then long time nothing and then Resident Evil 3 and DOA which was quite surprise how "good" was it.
I haven't seen 'Mutant Chronicles' yet. But it's not based on a specific game so I don't know if it can be included on the list or not...
DOA was shockingly decent and loyal to it's source materal...which was still a cheese fest anyway. I'm watching Mortal Kombat now It's the Citizen Kane of Video game moives.
the movie looks like crap, but hey, there are vice and mature but what are they thinking when making these movies? alternative dimensions? terry cia agent (guess geese was taliban in disguise)? c'mon, kof it's a fighting tournament with a lot of cool sub-stories, that's everything fan (and not fan) will need and want from a lame popcorn movie a story about orochi-kusanagi yagami families was so bad? as if being an SNK fanboy don't already hurt enough ps I HATE when the actors say "if you like videogames you'll like it", "I played videogames as a kid and loved kof" stop lying you bastards ! You have no clue about what are talking !
They have to act to get people to see this abortion. I'll probably see it and by see it I mean download it for free and expect the producers to pay me for watching it.
Yeah, I understand that adaptations don't have to be 100% like the original material, look at Super Mario Bros, it has barely anything to do with the games. Although it's not like the games had much to work with, and probably not many people would want to see a movie about a guy in red overalls jumping on turtles for 2 hours. Still, KoF has a perfectly good storyline for an action movie. What's wrong with the "fighting tournament" plot? Street Fighter dumped that too for some crap that didn't involve street fighting at all. An Orochi saga movie would be awesome indeed. And the actors know it will be bad, that's why they're saying stuff like "it has an anime feel" and "if you like video games, you will like this!". They obviously think that people who play video games will like any crap :banghead:
GoH: Mr. Big is NOT Raiden, in MK Annihilation, and second of all. Yes the actor who plays Raiden has a part in Sex In The City. But I actually like the actor who plays Raiden in MK Annihilation, cause I remember him from an entire and differen tv series from back in the day. Also the same actor plays a role in Dexter.
I think a lot of people like the Mortal Kombat movies out of sheer nostalgia. Even as a little kid, I was like "Wait, what? Isn't Raiden supposed to be some old Asian guy?"
Christopher Lambert as Raiden wasn't too bad really. And the change of ethnicity wasn't as bad as Iori suddenly being a 35-year-old with black hair.
It might be nice if a game adaptation movie was made by someone who had actually played a video game, ever, for once. Maybe even the game it's based on. Is that so much to ask?
Raiden is the same actor as Johnny Cage. All the Ninjas... Johnny Cage under the mask. You know, Mortal Komabat may not be the most technical of fighters...but it's mythology is awesome.
